The weather was hot and made the whole experiance very pleasent. The site is well hidden yet gives spectacular views of Ullswater and surrounding hills. 360 degrees of breathtaking sights. The site provides good (powerful) showers clean toilets and wash basins. Washing machines if needed at 3UKP per go. Two adults in one tent plus car was 18 UKP per... More

Arrived to a warm welcome from Andrea, the owner. Found a lovely spot over looking the lake, with great views for miles around. Campsite was well maintained, shower blocks were immaculate, and water hot. A short scenic route to the glenriddings, it was 28 degrees and roasting hot so a lovely walk to the local pub garden and an ice cold... More

Small campsite and mostly on a slope but we were lucky enough to find a perfect flat spot looking out over Lake Ullswater. Reasonably priced, we paid £36 for 2 adults for 2 nights and that was in the kid's school holidays. Dogs welcome at no extra cost. Toilet block could do with a bit of a clean but perfectly... More

I've stayed here once before whilst on the Coast to Coast walk, and was equally pleased with the facilities on my return visit. Great view overlooking Ullswater and of the Helvellyn range. There are limited flat pitches & we got one that wasn't too inclined which was fine. There are laundry and washing up facilities and relatively good wash blocks.... More

Stayed here several times if not organized to pre book elsewhere. Knew site to be sloping so arrived early and got one of few flat areas. Views amazing - overlooking Ullswater and mountains. Campsite didn't get too busy even though Easter weekend and everyone was quiet by 11pm. Wash block basic and could be cleaned more frequently however there was... More

Easy to access and in a great place with views overlooking Ullswater. The site is very open, so if you are unlucky enough to have gale forces winds, storms and the like make sure you tent can cope and is weighted down well! There's a little cafe on site, toilets and showers are clean and not a far walk. Very... More

We were informed that it was not possible to pre-book this site but that it would be quiet on the day we arrived. In fact the site was very busy and there were few spaces to pitch and all were on a slope down to the lake with cars parked amongst the tents. Basic showering facilities, loud music from across... Such a lovely area. Great hiking paths around. It's just by the lake. It's better to arrive as early as it's possible to get flat space as the campsite is located on the hill. I think it's little too expensive. £8 per person and £2 for the car. They dont accept the same sex bookings over 5 people which I... More

Side farm is everything you could want from a lakes camp site. It touches the lake with its own small beach to launch a canoe, skim stones or swim. It is on the route to Helvelyn and High street, is half a mile from a great pub (the white lion) and brilliant village shop and is as cheap as chips... More

We stayed at Side Farm on our recent Coast to Coast route. It's very well organised and the ability to book a site ahead is very handy. The location is amazing, on the banks of a lake, but a lot of the pitches are on slopes which isn't great. The other annoying factor is all that everyone parks their cars... More
