Me and my girlfriend stayed here in August 2014, it's an ideal location for walking Helvellyn, some cracking views and right by the lake, we got lucky with the weather so it made our stay happier! A few issues with the campsite, it's on a slope so not many flat spots, the farm track is bad leading up from reception... More

It is as picturesque as the photos suggest, but, as indicated by others, very hard to find a completely flat spot for a tent. Despite the unusually good September weather, it did get quite cold at night, particularly under clear skies. Colossus87 clearly misunderstands what is meant by an 'open fire'---few campsites allow it but a list can be found... More

I must stress that I have never felt the need to write a negative review prior to today, however, the experience myself and my family experienced at this campsite this weekend certainly dictates the need for me to warn other families away from this site. First, the positives. The view and the access to the lake. That is it. The... More

What can we say... The campsite views are amazing! Never been camping with the views like that previously. The dogs were kept on leads, so if you are scared of them, they don't cause any trouble. The owner was very helpful, always with the smile on her face. The toilets and showers were cleaned in the mornings, but by the... More

The weather was hot and made the whole experiance very pleasent. The site is well hidden yet gives spectacular views of Ullswater and surrounding hills. 360 degrees of breathtaking sights. The site provides good (powerful) showers clean toilets and wash basins. Washing machines if needed at 3UKP per go. Two adults in one tent plus car was 18 UKP per... More

Arrived to a warm welcome from Andrea, the owner. Found a lovely spot over looking the lake, with great views for miles around. Campsite was well maintained, shower blocks were immaculate, and water hot. A short scenic route to the glenriddings, it was 28 degrees and roasting hot so a lovely walk to the local pub garden and an ice cold... More

Small campsite and mostly on a slope but we were lucky enough to find a perfect flat spot looking out over Lake Ullswater. Reasonably priced, we paid £36 for 2 adults for 2 nights and that was in the kid's school holidays. Dogs welcome at no extra cost. Toilet block could do with a bit of a clean but perfectly... More

I've stayed here once before whilst on the Coast to Coast walk, and was equally pleased with the facilities on my return visit. Great view overlooking Ullswater and of the Helvellyn range. There are limited flat pitches & we got one that wasn't too inclined which was fine. There are laundry and washing up facilities and relatively good wash blocks.... More

Stayed here several times if not organized to pre book elsewhere. Knew site to be sloping so arrived early and got one of few flat areas. Views amazing - overlooking Ullswater and mountains. Campsite didn't get too busy even though Easter weekend and everyone was quiet by 11pm. Wash block basic and could be cleaned more frequently however there was... More

Easy to access and in a great place with views overlooking Ullswater. The site is very open, so if you are unlucky enough to have gale forces winds, storms and the like make sure you tent can cope and is weighted down well! There's a little cafe on site, toilets and showers are clean and not a far walk. Very... More
