This had to be one of the best B&B's we stayed at on the C2C. Very welcoming staff, great rooms and a fantastic menu. By far one of the best meals we had over the 14 days. Great cats too, really reminded us of the four we had left at home, two thumbs up to Ian and his staff, thanks.

My partner and I were bought a voucher for a night away here and as kirkstone pass and keswick hold sentimental memories to us we were excited to go. Ian was nothing but lovely and extremely helpful from booking to checking out. The hotel has a lovely feel as soon as you step in the door and are greeting by... More

Booked a night via a CN voucher and thankfully the cold weather eased off and the roads were fine. Restaurant was as good as we'd heard about from others and made to feel very welcome. The setting is as you'd expect, top class.

We have just stayed over the New Year and had a great time, shame about the weather though. My wife had stayed previously doing the C2C. The Hotel is in a cracking spot just on the edge of Patterdale and an easy walk into Gen Ridding, many walks can be done from here so just leave the car at hotel.... More

We visited here for an evening meal whilst completing the C2C walk. The building is very well kept with a very vibrant atmosphere and modern vibe. The service was a bit slow but when the food arrived it was top quality. Towards the end of the evening the restaurant had got fairly busy and the atmosphere was even better. Worth... More

Excellent, as always; friendly, welcoming and helpful. You really couldn't do better than this if you want to visit this beautiful part of the Lake District. Ian and the staff are always welcoming, and the standard of food and accommodation is outstanding for the price. Highly recommended.

Just stayed for two nights in "The Bothy" and had a wonderful stay. The room was fantastic, comfortable, warm and cosy and we'd love to stay in it again. The breakfast was great, especially the local bacon and sausages and the pizzas in the evening are a lovely treat. There's a great selection of ales etc and the bar is... More

A comfortable place in a scenic part of the Lake District. The knowledge Ian has of the Coast to Coast is unsurpassed and I was very grateful for his assistance when my walking companion appeared to have become lost at the end of the day. After that was resolved, enjoyed a very tasty dinner from a wide selection of meals... More

The Old Water View has a great location, comfortable rooms, and a value for money restaurant and bar but what makes this relatively small establishment a real gem is the level of service. The host goes out of his way to provide friendly, unobtrusive service and advice. For those walking the Coast to Coast or those walking the lakes districts... More

This is my third trip to Patterdale. The Old Water Inn is now a complete facility with bed and breakfast, pub, and restaurant. It is a great change for a place that was already terrific. The rooms are very pleasant, including the room where Wainwright stayed. The view of the "water" is very nice as well as all of the... More
