Stayed here as part of C2C walk, mixed experience overall. Turned up and all locked up early afternoon, sign said owner would be back in ten minutes, was closer to an hour when he did turn up. Room was a bit tired but in middle of refurbishment programme so might be better now. On the positive side Ian very knowledgeable... More

Excellent overnight stop for walkers on the C2C. We arrived quite late after a long days walk. Worried when we arrived that no food would be available, we needn't have worried. We were met at the door by a lovely Lady who had been working at the hotel for ten years (sorry my lovely forgotten your name) She immediately took... More

We recently stayed at this establishment on our second Coast to Coast trip and was not impressed. I have never stayed at any hotel or guest house where the proprieteur did not like the idea of you eating or drinking elsewhere. At breakfast when my wife asked the owner to fill up some water bottles she was interrogated as to... More

I am sorry that you were annoyed. Please look at the first page of our website www.oldwaterview.co.uk were you will see that we do not offer B&B as a service. If you want a B&B, there are plenty to choose from in the area. It is a market that we do not trade or compete in. Our business is trading... More

The owner of this establishment doesn't give two hoots for clientele or indeed his business. The last time we were there he was off on some walk on the Roman Wall and left his aged mother in charge of the business ...we were patient with the dear old lady, who was terribly slow but tried her best to cope. This... More

How you can have the bare faced cheek to write that review is beyond me! Let's say what really happened and why you are so angry and let people decide. You have been a regular customer so our service must have been ok or you would not have wanted to come back. This past weekend we were closed for a... More

This was the second time we stayed at Old Water View while walking C2C, apparently a favourite of Wainwrights. It is ideal for walkers. Ian, himself a walker, is a wealth of information. The accommodation is clean and comfortable with welcoming chocolates held by the teddy bears on each bed. The bedroom was large - we were actually given a... More

We stayed here for one night whilst on the Coast to Coast walk. The hotel is in a fantastic location just a few yards off the route and right by the river. The gardens are really nice and go down to the river bank so it's a great place to sit and relax after a day's walking. The host ,... More

Very nice welcome by Ian, the owner who proved to be extremely knowledgeable about the C2C and happy to chat to everyone whilst pouring the drinks in his cosy bar. Evening meal good and large portions, as was the good breakfast. Liked the second chocolate on my pillow after a long walk over from Grasmere. Would stay again here.

Ian who runs this b&b and restaurant is great. Meet and greet, shows your room, drinks at the bar, arranges packed lunches. We had the room in the garden by the river - so beautiful view and to wake up to. For Coast to coasters very convenient start in the morning and can eat dinner and have some drinks at... More

We passed this and called in the hope for food. They weren't serving but as we were leaving the chef had told the owner he was ready so we went back in. They are so welcoming, it's very charming and homely. Lots of little touches around and you would almost feel like one of the family. I would say stopping... More
