Attracted by the good rate offered for three nights accommodation compared to other AA 4star hotels in the Lake district. The room was large and comfortable, we ate in the dining room on one night and the other two nights in the Dolly Blue Bar, On all occasions we enjoyed the food with a good choice of dishes on the... We stayed in a four poster room 303. The room had incredible views of the river, with a large balcony. It was very clean and tidy, but felt a little dated. The lighting was a bit dim, the sort of glow you get from older low energy bulbs. This made it feel a bit dark. The theme continued in the... More

I stayed for one night with my boyfriend and we really enjoyed our stay. I'm unsure if we were upgraded as we were placed in an executive double room when we had booked a double room - we were really impressed by the space and quality of the room. Some of the reviews had suggested the rooms were a little... More

I stayed in room 216 with my wife to celebrate our second wedding anniversary on 14 December 2014. I cannot fault the hotel. Check in was smooth and clearly explained the times. The bar was competitively priced for the area and had my beer of choice Guinness. The room was spacious and clean with all amenities including bathroom speakers. The... More

I checked out several fitness clubs and swimming pools from Barrow to Ambleside, but decided to join Cascades as it is only a 6 minute walk from my cottage in Backbarrow. The Leisure club was established in the 1980's, so it's showing its age and due for refurbishment. However, the staff are welcoming, the pool is warm (bit of an... More

I must express my disappointment at the extremely poor level of customer service myself and a group of 12 other ladies received last weekend at the Whitewater Hotel. We had booked a spa day for 13 ladies in celebration of my mum's 50th birthday. Unfortunately, we arrived at 10.05am at the main hotel reception. After been given directions we made... More

Dear reviewer, Firstly I apologise to you and your friends for the way this was handled. Clearly there were certain issues on the day that could have been handled better. In our defence, having a large group turn up late for the spa treatments booked does cause a substantial amount of disruption for the business. You booked via Spa breaks,... More

You know you're in for a good stay when the 7 year old enters the hotel room first and you here a cry of "Woah, check this out!!!" Room was fabulous. Stunning views. Proper coffee with a cafetiere makes for a luxurious touch. Exceedingly clean. Made use of the swimming pool facilities and generally had a chill out time. As... More

13 friends arrived here on Saturday to celebrate a special birthday. We booked approx four months ago all paid in advance. We thought we were in for use of the facilities, a treatment and afternoon tea. Relaxation with friends in a cheerful atmosphere. Admittedly we were a little late and had gone to the hotel reception instead of the spa.... More
