Our visit started on a bad footing when we found that the superior room we had booked to take advantage of the 'superior view', provided only an average one. Situated at the back of the property, our accommodation overlooked trees, a smoking shelter and a children's playground. This would have been fine, if the front of the hotel overlooked a... More

We have just arrived home from this beautiful hotel. We stayed here for 3 nights 29th August-1st September 2014. This hotel is so family friendly and you can relax and feel at home. After reading so many negative reviews about staff at the hotel either being miserable or working slowly i was shocked. The hotel has a lot of young... More

Myself and my partner visited the Swan Hotel and Spa after hearing a good review from a colleague. We arrived on bank holiday Monday and stayed for 2nights. Upon arriving in Newby Bridge we were bowled over by the beauty of the area surrounding the hotel. The river was beautiful and tranquil, and there were lots of visitors using the... More

This is one of our favorite hotels in the world. The balance of location, decor, staff, food and facilities would be hard to beat in hotels far more pretentious than this old coaching inn on the banks of the river Leven. We have just returned from a week at The Swan where the staff commitment was evident from the first... More

Admittedly we did visit during the school holidays with a large group (4 adults, 7 kids) but tge subsequent wait of 55 minutes for soup, sandwiches and children's meals was a little too long. The food is pricey, ecpect to pay £10+ for an adult main course and around £6 for the kids meals, drinks are around £2 for coffee/tea... More

We called here on spec on Wednesday evening looking for a table for 7 people. The girl who appeared to be the manager of the restaurant told us that she could not offer a table immediately or for quite a while. I asked about eating in the bar and she said it was first come, first serve but she knew... More

I've been coming to the Lakes for a long time and this place used to have a superb reputation but things have sadly slipped. We visited whilst staying locally and found the service to be very patchy. Some staff were lovely and helpful but some were very jobs worth and would be better suited to working for the local council.... More

Myself and 4 friends have just stayed overnight here on a spa and stay offer. We arrived and were checked in by the friendly reception staff who also provided us with our lunch vouchers. The rooms are gorgeous, no bland magnolia, different wallpapers make each room interesting and individual. Really spacious and fully equipped with everything you'll need. We then... More

Unfortunately, we did not stay at the hotel but we did visit the Spa for one of their packages which included two treatments, a glass of champagne and light lunch. It was a birthday treat for me and my friend, and we both left feeling totally relaxed. I am a regular spa goer and I have to say that the... More
