We had wonderful couple nights stay. Great breakfast with all locally sourced fresh food, My favourite was the homemade marmalade and jam. Even had home made biscuits in room. Jane was fantastic hostess very helpful and friendly without being over the top. Didn't meet Peter as he was busy in the kitchen making the breakfast. At night had cosy drink... More

We got married in Lorton on New Year’s Eve 2013 and we booked the whole of the Old Vicarage for 2 nights for our families to stay in. They all gave such amazing feedback, it was the perfect venue for our families. Jane is a wonderful host, nothing was too much trouble. The day before the wedding my Mum was... More

My brother and I decided to take our farther and grandma to the Lake District for a weekend of relaxation, peace & quiet and obviously a few walks. After researching a number of different accommodation options we decided on the old vicarage which turned out to be the best decision we have made for quiet sometime. Absolutely everything about our... More

We have stayed at The Old Vicarage on several occasions for up to a week and have always had a first class experience. The house is in a great location with beautiful views, and is perfectly placed both for visiting Cockermouth and for walking at all levels. The rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished - it has more of the... More

We stayed at the old vicarage for two nights whilst we were attending our friends wedding. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and bright. The house itself is very well decorated and has been restored tastefully to preserve the original features, the sash windows and ornate staircase for instance. The gardens are also lovely, spacious and well kept. The place... More

This was our return visit, a year later, to The Old Vicarage to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Again, another wonderful and faultless stay. Jane, Peter and the team are so professional in what they do. Jane an excellent 'front of house' with her easy, warm and friendly manner. Peter a very accomplished 'chef' (taught by Jane, I believe) produces... More

We stayed here last weekend for a friends wedding and really enjoyed our stay. Room, service, and food was all excellent, as is the beautiful location. It really is a credit to the owners as a great deal of thought and care has been put into this place. Would definitely stay again if in the area and highly recommend!

We stayed for 2 nights to attend a wedding in the church next door. We arrived late, but this was not an issue for one of the owners, Jane. We were met with a warm welcome, shown to our room & even got some drinks at 10.30 at night. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent freshly prepared to order breakfast... More
