From the moment we arrived till we checked out we were treated wonderfully. From the biscuits, cookies to those from US, and tea in the room, the 3 course dinner with a superb bottle of wine, and the great full English breakfasts and the advice of what to see and where to eat while out and about--New House Farm was... more

I'm a regular visitor to the Lake District, but usually stay in the Ambleside/Grasmere region at higher-end B&Bs. My partner and I wanted to get off the beaten path this Christmas, so I found New House Farm in the Western Lakes and we're really happy we tried something different. The B&B location is gorgeous situated in Lorton Vale, quite close... more

We were planning a weekend trip to the North Lake District for some hill walking (Skiddaw) and were looking for a place to stay which would be a great deal better than our last experience in Mallaig. I've never paid as much as £130 (per night for the room & breakfast) to stay at a Bed & Breakfast in the... more

We stayed at New House Farm for 5 nights earlier this week, it was wonderful and one of my best B&B experiences. Hazel and her family are incredibly friendly and helpful, always cheery despite a power cut (don't worry - first time it happened in many, many years) and made our stay truly memorable. The rooms are pure luxury, with... more

My husband and I love to travel. We visited the Lake District back in 1971 when we were "hippies". We planned to return, and finally did. We flew Salt Lake City to Paris, Eurostar to London, and then Britrail to Penrith, and rented a car to drive to Lorton. The visit to New House Farm was the highlight of our... more

Stayed here for two nights whilst on business in Whitehaven. Lovely hosts, for whom nothing was too much trouble. I was in one of the main house rooms, with a very comfortable king-size bed and a very large walk in shower. Home made chocolate shortbread was a tasty treat! The breakfast was a little bit disappointing, although that was more... more

Stayed at NH Farm for 2 nights 25th & 26th March 2008 in the Stable Room, which is an annex off the main house. It was birthday suprise so I didn't know what to expect other than it was a peaceful location. This 5 star Guest House has had a huge refurbishment and the owners have been very sympathetic to... more

When we arrived,(30 mins after check in time) we were told to wait in lounge, as our room still wasn't ready. When we phoned up to book this b & b, we told the owner we would be coming with our 2 children, aged 10 & 2, despite the owner claiming our accomodation was "child friendly" it was anything but!... more

We value all our guests comments but we are deeply saddened that the lady from Merseyside has felt compelled to write this review. We would like to point out that there are several inaccuracies in the review. Firstly no workmen are around in December when this lady and her family stayed. All our reburbishment is done In January when in...

If you want a few days away from the hustle and bustle of modern life, then this B&B in the most desirable part of the lake disitrict is the place to stay. My wife and I stayed for two nights in the Old Dairy. The room was huge, the bed was the most comfortable ever and all fixtures and fitting... more
