We recently spent five nights at Overwater Hall. It was an excellent experience - the food was extremely good, the rooms were nicely furnished and well equipped and the service could not be bettered. We would strongly recommend it.

A peaceful location and very handy for the northern hills and lakes. Lovely room. Traditional service. Couldn't get a cappuccino In the afternoon - only filter coffee but fine! Didn't get to try the restaurant. Lots of guests with dogs - which wasn't a problem.

Maybe not the best hotel in the Lake District I think Holbeck Ghyll holds that I think it was a bit over priced anyway a very stunning unusual building with lots of history our room was very nice but a bit tired not much of a view from the room one window looking over fields but most of the windows... Thank you for your recent review. If I might just make a couple of comments: firstly, we would encourage you to book directly with us for our best rates. Booking agents demand substantial rates of commission, and this is reflected in the prices offered through them. Secondly, we are always happy to return items of lost property on request. Please... This has to be one of the best hotels in the Lake District - stunning views; stunning service and stunning ambiance - it takes a while to get here but it is well worth the trip - highly recommended for a perfect break.

A hotel where the manager comes out to your car as you arrive, to take you and your bags straight to your room, as if you're family. No filling out of forms or handing over of credit cards. Where there's homemade complimentary shortbread and aperitif in your room, complimentary newspapers at breakfast, 12 different walks from the door of the... More

We are regular visitors to Overwater, and were delighted when our daughter and her boyfriend decided to get married there. From start to finish, everything was perfect. Angela, Adrian, and Stephen really do mean it when they say " This is your day ". Everything was arranged just as the happy couple wished : time of the ceremony, champagne reception... More

We have been here many times; it gets better and better. Incomparable peaceful setting in woodland (the dog thinks it's heaven). Wonderful food, beautifully served - the depth of flavour in the sauces is unbelievable. The staff are all terrific, and it was great to see Luke back behind the bar (if only for a couple of days). The atmosphere... More

A few days break at Overwater Hall can do nothing but lift the spirits. It is quite simply the ideal place to escape from it all. Delicious meals, prepared to order, a totally genuinely friendly unobtrusive service, unbelievably comfortable beds, a bedtime nightcap, coffee, tea & homemade shortbread replenished daily in the room, red squirrels literally on the doorstep, &... However a single word is far from sufficient. I would add, superb location, great rooms, fantastic food, friendly, helpful and efficient staff, wonderful gardens and grounds. My wife and our Jack Russell dog Mick have just returned from a superb four day break at Overwater Hall. We only acquired Mick in July last year, he was our neighbours dog but... More

Invited by Friends for an overnight stay at this lovely Georgian Mansion set in 18 acres of gardens with a beautiful background of Skiddaw and the Uldale Fells. Angela Hyde, the manager was at the door to welcome us and take us to our room. The Hotel is very relaxing and comfortable and the food cooked by Angela's Husband, Adrian,... More
