My partner and I came for New Year's Eve, and our stay was nothing short of perfection. The stay was part of a christmas gift as he worked over Christmas, and so I wanted to make new year special for him, and the Gosforth Hall inn did not let us down. We arrived and were famished as we had been... More

I visited the Bower House for a friends birthday and what a treat!! Set amongst some amazing scenery with everything to hand a single female traveller with a daft Labrador could want for! The staff were friendly, accommodating and a pleasure to have amongst other family and friends. They provide spotlessly clean rooms, that allowed the dog, but you would... More

The pub was very cosy and friendly, and the food was very tasty and reasonable value. Staff were excellent. Good selection of drinks. We stayed in the annexe building which whilst well built and modern lacked any decoration and had a clinical feel about it. It was clean and the bathroom was spacious but the room was missing the little... More

We spent 2 nights in room 3 which was spacious and beautifully decorated with a lovely en suite. The staff made every effort to make sure that this was a break to remember for all the right reasons. This is a great location for both the coast and the lakes and Wast Water can be reached on foot. Food in... More

We stayed in a recently refurbished room in this lovely old inn. The premises have been renovated to a high standard making the most of the inn's original features. The room was clean, the staff were friendly and attentive and the food in the restaurant was good. We would definitely go back for a return visit.

As we were celebrating our 10th anniversary, and had one of our honeymoon nights in the Copley Suite (previously Room 11), we decided to book the same room for a couple of nights. Everything was as it should be, huge comfortable room, huge bath, great breakfast (even black pudding), and an excellent bar. Will be back again .....

I had stayed here previously and when work took me near again I was happy to book. The building is old but well maintained and inside the bar area has been very well looked after. I stayed in the annex which is relatively new and all the rooms are to a high standard. I have stayed in the main building... More

Big, modern and clean rooms (in the annexe anyway). Great restaurant food (esp the pies), good friendly service and a number of guest beers on the taps. Breakfast is the only thing that's not up there with everything else. It's ok, just not amazing, with a pretty limited choice and can take a while.
