I should start, so I've been told, that we didn't stay in a WigWam but a Nordic Tipi. I did try and explain that it didn't quite have the same ring to it in the title.... We stayed in Wasdale during May half term. Last year we stayed the same time in Low Wray in a pod but the weather... More

This was the second half of our two week holiday, and what a difference. This site due to its location is less crowded with families and more for the walker/climber and how perfect was that. Although families would be welcomed, there is not a great deal to do save for walking and relaxing in the beautiful surroundings. Make sure you... More

One of the best walking locations in Lakeland. Great facilities. The only downside is that there doesn't seem to be anyone around to enforce the 'no noise after 11pm' policy. As this site is popular it attracts some who think that it's a good idea to bring a crate of booze and stay up drinking and talking loudly until past... More

You have to be keen to visit this particular campsite. You're not going to come across it by chance, as it took me nearly an hour to reach from the main road, travelling along single track country roads. That said, the location and facilities at the campsite make the journey well worthwhile. I camped on my own for two nights... More

Just back from a week of hill walking around Wast Water. The Wasdale National Trust campsite is just what I needed. It feels like a proper retreat for those of us who love the beauty of the mountains and the natural eace of the great outdoors. The site is peaceful, no cars on the camping meadow, each tent six metres... More

We booked this campsite as a base for Scafell Pike. Impressed by the warm showers (you need to hold the button in so they run continuously), toilet facilities, washing up facilities and secure parking. We arrived late but were able to find our pitch tag and camp park pass which you need everytime you enter the carpark. Good rule for... More

I just stayed the one night, mostly to test out my new campervan. The staff were friendly and helpful and they placed me in a quiet location at the top of the site. Cycling the area was easy because the site is well maintained.

We stayed here for 3 nights with our two children in a family pod. The pod itself was fabulous, warm, clean and spacious and it had a little sort of porch area at the front so we could keep a few bits outside like the kitchen stand and camp table. Our pod looked straight out onto Scafell Pike, an amazing... More

Stayed in a tent for 3 nights, 4 adults. Facilities such as showers, toilets and washing up areas were more than adequate and we never had to queue. The campsite and surrounds are idyllic. A little disappointed to have to pay £5 a night for the extra car - as 2 paying couples, we felt this should be covered by... More

Stayed here in our camper van for 3 nights. Lovely spot, not crowded, private pitching. Good facilities. Local pub great food. Great location for lovely walks and of course to climb scafell pike. Staff in shop/reception friendly and helpful.
