Found this gem last minute, stayed a couple of nights and waited for good weather to climb Scafell Pike. Good facilities and plenty of room. Natural feel and plenty of birds visited us by our tent each day, the robins were brave and went into the tent a couple of times! Very pleased we found this place and reasonable cost... More

Arriving was slightly confusing.. Whilst the campsite wast clearly signposted there was a sign for a public footpath which made us confused. It was however the correct way! Checking in was easy with wonderful Staff and easy access. Great pub nearby (would recommend Burgers and the Pie!) The website says it is a 10 minute walk however it took us... More

Have just returned from this campsite and found it to be an amazing place. The setting and views are stunning and it is a perfect base from which to climb Scafell Pike and do many other beautiful walks.. followed by a well earned pint in the Wasdale Head Inn. The site facilities are spotless and well maintained, with a small... More

We arrived late afternoon at this lovely well run campsite. The next day as we opened the doors of our camper...there was Sarfell Pike and it had to be climbed. six hours later and pretty exhaust the warm showers and lovely clean facilities were most welcome. The next day for a bit of a rest we thought we would walk... More

Love this place. Surrounded by beautiful mountains with easy access to scafell pike. Lovely clean facilities and a shop selling more or less anything you need. Plenty of space between tents. A few too many midges for my liking, even in the pouring rain, but there was always the pub to hide in, selling good pub grub. Will be back.

I should start, so I've been told, that we didn't stay in a WigWam but a Nordic Tipi. I did try and explain that it didn't quite have the same ring to it in the title.... We stayed in Wasdale during May half term. Last year we stayed the same time in Low Wray in a pod but the weather... More

This was the second half of our two week holiday, and what a difference. This site due to its location is less crowded with families and more for the walker/climber and how perfect was that. Although families would be welcomed, there is not a great deal to do save for walking and relaxing in the beautiful surroundings. Make sure you... More

One of the best walking locations in Lakeland. Great facilities. The only downside is that there doesn't seem to be anyone around to enforce the 'no noise after 11pm' policy. As this site is popular it attracts some who think that it's a good idea to bring a crate of booze and stay up drinking and talking loudly until past... More

You have to be keen to visit this particular campsite. You're not going to come across it by chance, as it took me nearly an hour to reach from the main road, travelling along single track country roads. That said, the location and facilities at the campsite make the journey well worthwhile. I camped on my own for two nights... More

Just back from a week of hill walking around Wast Water. The Wasdale National Trust campsite is just what I needed. It feels like a proper retreat for those of us who love the beauty of the mountains and the natural eace of the great outdoors. The site is peaceful, no cars on the camping meadow, each tent six metres... More
