Excellent location for the Scafells, Gables and Mosedale horseshoe. Stayed in a pod (pillar) which is to the north end of the site which i would imagine in high season is quieter, and is still close enough to the toilets and shower block and our car was parked very close by also. mwis forecasts are available daily from the front... 4 adults in the party, needing a campervan, no hook up with an awning and therefore booked as such. On arrival, there were tent pitches on grass or campervan pitches on a hard standing - compacted stones. The campervan couldn't go on the grass and it was very hard to pitch an awning on the stones. We were offered a... More

We decided to ditch our tent and stay in a pod due to the notorious Lake District weather. The camping pods are brilliant, cosy, warm and dark so we got some much needed rest and relaxation. Facilities are clean and conveniently located. This is a stunning campsite with spectacular views and a nice pub within walking distance. I was able... More

Third time we've stayed here and you couldn't find a more beautiful location. Surrounded by beautiful hills and a lake, it's peaceful, friendly and completely off the radar - no mobile signal whatsoever - bliss! The starting point for loads of different trails to suit all abilities, it's also close to a decent pub. Showers & loos are clean (and... More

Just got back from this site, not my first visit and certainly won't be my last. This site offers everything, great location, great site shop and facilities. Staff were brilliant. My wife's first visit and she loved it. Views are unbelievable. One of the UK's best sites.

If you want to climb scafell pike and are camping, this site is the best you could ever hope for as the walk up the mountain starts at this campsite! the toilets/showers are excellent and the national trust Rangers based onsite can give you loads of info on walks in the area. There is a weather bulletin posted outside the... More

A really beautiful campground with awesome trails and a spectacular view. Pods are warm and cozy with a nice porch for cooking and relaxing on. A note to people driving up from the south/east - it might look shorter to drive over Birker Fell but it is a bit treacherous on a single track road with many huge cows that... More

Decided to come up here because it had no phone signal ! It is out of the way but a lovely spot, its pretty quiet, the showers/toilet block was excellent, lots of hot water and clean. Plenty of amazing walks in the area, the little site shop sells everything you may have forgotten and there's the Inn about 20 minutes... More

We stayed in one of the little camping pods, which are heaven after a day out in the rain! Lots of room for a couple, little heater and lamp provided, and loads of room on the porch for a stove. Toilets and shower clean, little camp shop had loads of goodies and last minute walking necessities, the road to scafell... More
