What a gem of a campsite in stunningly beautiful surroundings! It attracts campers who enjoy the hills and mountains, and limits the size of groups. We climbed England's highest peak and canoed on Englands' deepest lake. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and facilities all in good condition. After 3 nights in a pod, we liked the place so much... More

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights in August. The campsite is clean and well-maintained with good facilities. Neither of us had to queue for the toilets or for a shower in the mornings. There's a laundry room which we didn't need to use but it was good to know it was there. The staff at reception were helpful... More

My partner and I visited this campsite in July (bit lazy with the reviewing!!) and we both LOVED it! Firstly, we have been on those camping trips when you get soaked and cold- SO, we opted for a Camping Pod this time to avoid this happening again. And what a great decision we made. We hired the Family Pod -although... More

Basic camp site in a beautiful location. We stayed for three nights in our camper van the hard standing were under the trees which provided a good place to hang your washing line when trying to dry your wet walking gear, but not so good if you want to have your breakfast in the sun as they do block out... Excellent campsite. Love the strict enforcement of 11 pm rule. Wardens v friendly and let me us their business phone when crap BT payphone stole my money. Nice distance between tents. Midges were not too bad a problem.

We booked this campsite at the last minute without realising quite how remote it was! And google maps took us over the Hardknott Pass, which was a scary experience at dusk, and totally unexpected! Booking online was easy and arriving out of hours wasn't a problem - our tent tag and gate card were left at reception. There are no... More

I spent a few days here and had a great time walking up the Scafells, Pillar circuit, etc. Although it was late July, the site was not too crowded - possibly due to its more remote location. The site has great views, and clean facilities with free hot showers. The small shop is well-stocked with food items, stuff you might... More

Stayed here in a group with 3 tents and a camper van for a long weekend and gad a glorious time. Mainly spent time remembering the good old days before kids when this would have been an ideal place to head off into the hills. As it was it was a great safe place for the kids to roam around... More

I love this campsite but unfortunately felt that is has been poorly managed by the NT. I do not understand the need for all the trees in the far field? Is it campsite for humans or for midges? The trees do nothing than provide a haven for midges AND worse block the wonderful views of the mountains. Please cut down... More

When I go camping I hope for certain things, clean showers and toilets, tidy location, great views. This site had all three. Great location if you love walking and staying in a rural location. On the web site it stated that the showers cost 20p, however they are free.
