Fantastic site, beautiful surroundings. Our 7 and 5 year old boys loved the space, the small Lake play area and the train. Well kept site, friendly staff and great facilties. Shower doesn't last long though & washer machine was expensive but this won't out us off from returning :)

We're only 20 mins away so on a particularly sunny evening decided last minute to go camping. It is possible to stay for one night outside of the school holidays and I suspect if they have pitches available it will be possible at other times too-although I've not tested this I've stayed at the fisher ground several times over the... I haven't stayed at Fisherground for quite a few years when the children were younger, but I found myself going back there having been attracted by the ability to have a fire in one of the pre-positioned fire pits. The site is in the beautiful Eskdale Valley and even has a stop for the Ratty miniature railway. The site is... More

Our family of 16 have just returned from Fisherground campsite. Honestly..... We would definitely recommend this campsite. We were a little worried about the big group thing, but when we explained to a lovely lady on the phone that we were all seperate units and 3 generations of pensioners adults and children, with 4 small dogs, she said this would... We were met by unhelpful staff who overcharged us by £50 & had to prove this in order to get my money back. The campsite is in a beautiful place, it is such a shame that it is run by the most unhelpful and aggressive (if challenged) staff. I would not recommend this site, as it has too many rules... More

An excellent campsite where all the facilities are very well maintained. Great to see up to 30 children at one time playing freely in the 'pond' and adventure playground. Some were in the water at 7am in their pyjamas. The plumes of smoke rising from the campfires in the evenings was magical against the backdrop of rock surfaces and wooded... More

Well what can I say about my first camping trip with my family. Children are aged 5,7,9. We left a day early not down to boredom as my children all of them had an absolute ball right the way through the week. We arrived on the Saturday 23rd august14. We arrived to a very happy and polite lady who owned... More

£28/night is expensive camping. Extra charge must be to pay for all the staff who patrol regularly, cleaning up, checking fires and hassling folk to leave by 11am. The wood fellow sells £5 bags of wood that last a couple of hours and don't seem to get warm. We went foraging and picked up fallen wood in nearby forest but... More

Stayed at this campsite over the august bank holiday weekend with 3 climbing friends. We were in 1 man tents, though most pitches and the 'preference' is for family tents and family groups and not groups of singles. The campsite is at the end of th Hardknott pass if you want to take the scenic ( read hairy route !... More

As the title says, this was our first camping trip with our 2 children, 6 and 4, so bear in mind we have nothing to compare to! First off, we arrived and were welcomed pleasantly by a lady (?owner) who was very accomodating since we had a bigger tent than anticipated on booking. We were shown to our pitch by... More
