Fantastic, friendly, traditional country pub in beautiful setting. Rooms comfortable and warm. Food portions unbelievable, as well as tasty, homemade biscuits to die for. Will definitely recommend to others and go back .

If I give somewhere a 5 rating it really deserves it. Went twice, both times with our dog which was warmly welcomed. Had several different beers and was offered tastes to see which we would like. Never been in a pub with the choice of miles/dark beers this one had. The first visit the staff were all in fancy dress... More

We went last week and were served by a very pleasant young girl and were looking forward to our meal However my very poor mushroom starter was whisked away with one hand and our mains delivered with the other. I had the scampi and the chips were inedible. They were stone cold ,completely soggy (they actually doubled over in the... More

Man sized portions of food. Best ales around, no messing about. Best bar workers around. Jonte and Sharon are the funniest couple of people ever. Best pub I've been in for a while. If you like mainstream ale then don't go in because there's only good ale in! Absolutely brilliant! Thanks, the Devenish's (the people who came in late and... More

I can't recommend this lille pub enough. The meals are huge and excellent value for money, they are good old pub grub. I highly recommend the poachers chicken. The staff are very welcoming and very friendly and the best part for me is the fact you can take your dog's in while you eat. 10 out 0 10

Great location, great beer, great accommodation, great staff - what's not to like?? If you can make it over the Hard Knott Pass this rambling old 15th Century inn in Eskdale rewards the intrepid traveller with a big selection of well-kept real ales served in a traditional Lake District bar complete with log fire. It also serves delicious local food... More

Me & my husband stayed here 29th August for 2nights in room 2 (above bar). Room was spacious, clean, comfy and had the most fantastic views. (No bar noise) Easily worth the £60pn (including breakfast) Breakfast was the BEST and BIGGEST I've ever had all local and you could taste the quality. Stunning! Dinner in the pub . . .... More

A lovely pub in a lovely part of the World. Good food, a varied selection of real ales. Still retained it's local boozer atmosphere whilst also accommodating the food crowd. The local campsite is only a give minute walk down the road too. Cheers!

Oh where to start!! The location is second to none! So perfectly remote and rural. Between mine and my sister's family, we had the apartment and cabin for a 2 week holiday. The accommodation was wonderful and comfortable. The owner and staff at the Inn were amazingly helpful and really made us feel at home, in particular, the lovely Sharon... More

Two nights in a quiet smallish double room above the bar. Bath with shower - lots of hot water. Comfortable bed. Multi channel TV, etc. Free Wi-Fi. Comprehensive menu in the traditional bar. Enormous portions at very reasonable prices. Big full English breakfast, good toast and coffee. Friendly staff. A variety of excellent, hand pumped ales as well as the... More
