The lakes are a friendly close knit area where local businesses pitch in and helps each other out. That must be the only reason the owner of the cottage in which we stayed could have given it three of five stars in their local information guide. Out of the seven meal purchased three were of average standard, the only reason... More

Just back from the King George, absolutely fantastic! We stayed in the apartment, just perfect, so cosy, home from home, Johnty is just the perfect host, very welcoming, fantastic food, service etc... Not forgetting the lovely ladies who work there too. I can honestly say I've never felt so at home. Thank you so much, we will defiantly be returning.... More

Seven of us shared Fishermans platters which were excellent and a baked camembert also brilliant , but the mains mostly roasts were just okay The sharing sweet was out of this world V good waiting staff So why only three stars after my fives for prev visits? A very poor experience on arriving left us standing for 20 minutes despite... More

Visited here twice whilst staying at Fisherground. It's a nice pub, plenty of room and dog friendly in certain areas. Nice outdoor seating area too. However the food is only average. We ate here twice and both nights were disappointed, for example the pie with a shortcrust pastry was soggy and quite tasteless. Not much choice on the menu either.... More

Spent a lovely weekend with a party of 10 in both apartment and flat. Bearing in mind the cost, the accommodation is adequate for most fell walkers needs - some of the fixtures and fittings could perhaps benefit from a little TLC! We ate on two occasions and again the food is reasonably priced - I would describe it as... More

I visited this place on a whim. I was driving from Scotland to SW England and wanted to get up Scafell. I really liked this place. Boutique it is not, but characterful it most certainly is. The staff were excellent, very friendly. The food I ordered was great. Sausage and chips with eggs (I was being greedy) washed down with... More

We stayed B&B for two nights. The accomodation was adequate for our needs, very clean and comfy. The owner Jonty and his staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The food was very good, honest homemade and locally sourced. Very large portions so make sure you are hungry. The breakfast kept us going all day... More

The cabin sits below the pub garden area, this is covered by a plastic roof which blows all night long and is very noisy the food is a... More
