We went in for a meal, the outset and location of the pub looked nice, however that was where it ended. I ordered surf and turf, expecting maybe a nice king prawn skewer with the steak, when the food arrived I was shocked to see cold prawns on my plate (looked like cheap frozen prawns), with frozen veg and the... The pub is situated in an excellent location with plenty of parking. There is outside area for food and drink as well as a lot of space inside. The Bar staff was very friendly and the chef personally came out to explain what options we had for vegetarians. Good options for drink including different flavoured vodka. A large selection of... Lovely location and fantastic proximity to the Fisherground Campsite (5 min walk) with a great outside area to enjoy food and drinks (including a massive te-pee canopy). The choice of ales is great and (as we ventured there several times including at 11pm to watch the England game) the “opening times” seem quite relaxed. Big portions of food with a... More

well where do I start? Amazing hospiality from the minute we stepped in right until we left. Neither the owner or any of his staff could do more to help. Location was fantastic, got off the ravenglass mini train at the green and walked for 5 mins. Fodd, the best i have ever tasted. The owner cooked breakfast by himself... More

What a fantastic location, the food in the pub is excellent - loads of it, high quality and hot. The welcome from the owner and staff is so friendly and warm. The bedrooms have a lovely view over the surrounding countryside, and although a little dated, are comfortable. I would not hesitate in recommending the King George to any of... More

Arrived late on our first night of camping, after meals had just finished being served, with our 2 hungry children. The staff very kindly rustled us up some lovely food, despite being past food serving time, which really saved the day! The staff made us feel very welcome, especially the lady serving at the bar. My eldest, 9 year old,... More

We were told that this would be the pub to go to in Eskdale for a meal, we were just looking for good pub grub but I have to say that this is by far the worst food I have ever been presented in my life. The mushrooms in stilton sauce consisted of a couple of mushrooms swimming in a... More

Called in a second time based on my previous experiences, and was not disappointed. We ordered the prawn sandwich and salad, superb. Prawns were to die for and the bread just right. I also had a pint of ale which was of equal standing. The lady at the bar was most helpful and the service equally so. The day was... More

We used the flat for a late (as in we booked it late) break at Feb half term. It was just right. Clean, cosy and warm, not too posh so we felt bad about our boots and wet gear, not too basic so we felt we were slumming it! JUST RIGHT! One of the best beds we have slept in... More
