We stayed here for 2 nights on our first visit to Cartmel. The Cavendish Arms is a very quaint old place with a lot of charm, friendly staff and good service. I was disappointed that our room was so small and on such a slope. I couldn't even stand up straight to dry my hair in front of a mirror... More

called in to the Cavendish Arms to view this lovely old Inn. Ordered a pot of tea for two. Was charged £5.60 - needed jaw realignment after asking bar tender to repeat the amount! Two cups of tea (£2.80)a cup 'whooah'. So be prepared when visiting this old Inn.

Quirky old coaching inn, where the wooden floor boards creek and slope up to the bathroom but that's all part of the charm. Located in Cartmel, steeped in history of Sir William Marshall - Magna Carta 1215 and King John. Food was excellent and not to be missed for diners who want quality at a reasonable price - the char... More

We stayed two nights here having received a voucher as a gift. We had a friendly welcome but were a bit disappointed in the room which was very small and needed a bit of TLC. Wifi was free but very slow. We had dinner in the restaurant which was good but it wasn't clear which dishes came with vegetables and... More

Stayed for 2 nights, aug 2015. If you can find better accomodation than this ur a better man than me! We had room23, an executive king suite in the annexe on the square. Huge bed, roll top bath, the whole top floor to ourselves, quite the best nights sleep in a long time! The pub itself serves a wide choice... More

I stayed here during November 2014 and had a comfortable stay. The rooms were quaint and the breakfast was excellent. The bar area has a huge roaring fire which warms the cockles on the coldest evenings. The bar staff are friendly and rustled our party up some excellent sandwiches which were very tasty. Altogether an enjoyable stay

We stayed for three nights at the Cavendish Arms. There are a small number of rooms, a restaurant and a bar. It is a very old building with sloping floors as you would expect, but this adds to its charm. There is a car park but it has a narrow entrance so the smaller the car the better! The staff... More

We went here on a voucher deal so it was a basic room for a bargain price. The food was good, especially breakfast - everything freshly cooked to order, none of that self-service buffet stuff you get in the big chains. a good base for exploring the Cartmel peninsula. The staff were all very helpful, down to a couple of... More

Arriving in the sleepy medieval village of Cartmel is breathtaking. It really is a chocolate box village in the lakes, utterly unspoiled. When we arrived at the Cavendish Arms we were checked in by a very friendly (not in an overfamiliar way!) man, who explained that we would need to book if we wanted to eat downstairs in the pub...
