We very much enjoyed our stay in Cartmel--such a lovely village. The Aynsome was a great choice, with fantastic service and delicious food. What a breakfast!! It felt like what an English country B&B should feel like: warm, inviting, and peaceful. Just two quibbles: the wifi was not effective in the attic room (making it impossible to video chat with... The only thing warmer than the welcome was the piping hot bath! Very welcome after a days walking. Fabulous room in the stables annexe where dogs were welcome. Delighted to report very cosy, comfortable and spotless. Chris was a fabulous host and catered to all needs and we very much look forward to a return visit.

My wife and I recently enjoyed our fourth visit to Aynsome when attending the race meeting at nearby Cartmel. What a delightful place to stay! The setting is beautiful, just a short walk from Cartmel village. I'm pleased to say we were greeted like old friends and, as usual, made very welcome indeed. The hotel maintains a 'country house' feel... More

First class, personal and friendly service in this excellent old Manor House hotel. Can't speak for the dinner as we only had breakfasts but if they are anything to go by the dinner will be delicious. Cosy little bar with a good range of house wines, whiskeys etc.Quiet and delightful.

From checking in (earlier than advertised) through to checking out two days later everything was taken care of by the wonderful owners and loyal staff. The hotel could be considered a little dated but I liked the features introduced by the owners as they had attempted to maintain the Manor house period theme. The room was well-equipped and the bed... More

Stayed here in May 2013 with hubby as last minute break for 2 nights. Wow - the team made us feel like part of the family and from the moment we checked in they greeted us like old friends, looking after us. Food - expect silver service, high end menus and spectacular service. This is one of the best hotels... More

A few days at Aynsome Manor proved to be a very relaxing break. It has a lovely rural setting not far from Cartmell. The staff are welcoming, friendly and efficient, nothing too much trouble. It has an old fashioned comfortableness(if that's a word!) which is very relaxing. Excellent breakfast with a good choice served in the lovely dining room. Evening meals served... More

My husband and I spent last night at this lovely hotel in a peaceful part of Cumbria. Our room was nice, the staff were attentive, but the best part of our stay was the food served in the dining room. We chose to have dinner there and were very glad we did. The food was carefully prepared, and delicious. From... More

Previous reviews on Aynsome Manor Hotel say it all. An immaculate family run hotel, with comfortable rooms and excellent food. The hotel has character and history, and is situated in a beautiful spot with stunning views all around. The owner and his wife are both professional hoteliers who joined the family business after spending years working with top hotel groups.... More

Unlike bollinger4ever,we returned to Aynsome Manor for the second time this year for 2 nights & thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Room immaculate & very comfortable. Also surprisingly warm with heating not on! Food, as last visit, just superb, including Sunday evening dinner which was freshly cooked & delightful! Both breakfasts, one full British % t'other smoked haddock were also excellent!!... More
