We went to the racing at Cartmel - the smallest track in Britain - and a wonderful day out. This hotel was ideally placed, within walking distance of the track. You can hear the commentaries from the hotel as the horses are put through their paces. The hotel itself is very friendly, with lovely public rooms. The bedrooms are fine... More

We enjoyed a four-night stay with friends - three couples in total. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who all worked hard to make our time here thoroughly enjoyable. The food was memorable and offered good value for money. It's a very old building, so expect creaky floorboards - and the lack of a modern ventilation system means... More

The hotel was lovely, but the food in the restaurant was some of the best I have tasted for a long time (at very reasonable prices). We needed somewhere to break the journey to the Western lakes and this was a very pleasant surprise.

My wife and I stayed at Aynsome Manor 27th -30th June. The owners made us feel very welcome indeed and could not have been more helpful and friendly. The staff were all excellent in every respect and the service second to none. Breakfast's were first class and the dining experience and standard and choice of meals could not have been... More

We returned to the Aynsome Manor Hotel for our third visit. We are now quite elderly (!) and it is so good to find a hotel with such a homely, caring attitude. The food is quite excellent, and we both put on a few pounds during our stay. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and considerate,... More

We stayed at Aynsome manor for two nights 5th to 7th June and can't rate this hotel highly enough. Set in stunning surroundings this hotel offered everything we needed - proximity to Windermere, comfortable accommodation, great food and dog friendly. We stayed in room 14 which is in the annex. The bedroom was comfortable with an ensuite with both bath... More

Excellent stopping off point when travelling N or S. Genuinely friendly staff and clean rooms if a little on the small side. Meals can be inconsistent but breakfasts are excellent. Terrific value for money.

Booked the hotel for the races and was really pleased the rooms were nicely decorated the hotel spotless. We had dinner on the first night which was delicious and the house wine was spot on. Breakfast was superb with lots of choice. The staff were really friendly and I would definitely recommend this hotel and given the chance go back... More

Lovely place. Staff very lovely. Treated our 7 year old daughter like a princess and made her feel v special. Would highly recommend. For the money it's very good. If you can't afford L'enclume then check this place out! Will definitely return
