I stayed at the Mason's Arms with some friends a couple of weeks ago. We all enjoyed the accommodation but oh dear...what is going on in the restaurant? There was a series of errors with our order which, on their own would not have been a problem . However, in addition one of our party ordered a blue cheese sauce... More

We've eaten several times at the Masons Arms but decided to have our wedding anniversary weekend here. We stayed in the Crossthwiate suite, the bed was very comfortable and the room a perfect temperature. It was great being able to open the windows properly! However the duvet was too thick and hot. The food is excellent but even though we... More

We have been to the Masons Arms on numerous occasions but until this visit have never stayed there. We have just returned from a two night stay in the Strawberry Bank Suite. The quality of the accommodation was very good but let down by the service of the management and some issues in the restaurant. We went down for breakfast... More

Lovely views from our cottage (Lyth). It was comfortable and pleasant, although it did have a strange smell in the kitchen. Bed was comfortable and we slept soundly. Great selection of Ales in the pub and real old world character with ceiling beams and sloping floors, really quirky and quaint. Food was hot and plentiful, so much so we couldn't... More

Sometimes when you are looking for a nice weekend away you want to find a hotel that combines a nice pub, a nice outside area, a nice restaurant and amazing location and views. All of the above rarely exist but they do a this hotel. I really enjoyed this place. You go into some places and they have a grubby... More

The location is lovely and rural. Our room was clean and comfortable with nice touches like ground coffee instead of instant. We ate in both the restaurant and the bar area and our meals were very good. The staff were friendly and helpful and we'd definitely stay there again.

After walking around the Winster valley, our walking guidebook recommended to stop here for lunch and I'm glad we did - great little country pub with a fantastic local menu and it looked like a great place to stay which we will do next time we are back in the lakes.

With a wonderful view over the Winster valley this wonderful pub is a favourite with us. Unpretentious food, well kept beer and delightful staff- the rooms look wonderful, but I have not stayed there - yet! Not far from Boland bridge. .. and in Cartmel Fell not Cartmel as listed...if you are visiting the South Lakes this is a serious... More

Beautiful self catering cottages linked to a fantastic pub which also has a restaurant for evening meal. Tip - must book in advance for evening meal as really popular and gets full quickly. Bar snacks also available and the quality of the food is amazing. The cottages themselves are all interlinked and different sizes, modern, extremely clean with full facilities... More

We stayed as a family in the Lyth cottage over the August Bank holiday weekend. Since our last visit earlier in the year the sofa bed has been changed and the whole cottage painted - both are great and show the owners are happy to spend money on keeping the place up to date. Food on Sunday evening was served... More
