What a charming pub. Having just driven over hardknott pass we stopped here for some food and boy was I glad we did. The pub is modern and friendly. The food was excellent as was the service. We would defiantly visit this establishment again.

A very warm welcome and friendly staff with a decent breakfast served. Out of season I should imagine a very quiet place however a good atmosphere in season. For people who want to getaway from it all this is an ideal retreat. A great selection of ales.

Just got back from my 1 night stay at the Woolpack Inn. With my husband and dogs, after a walk up Scafell. Excellent location with beautiful scenery. Great value for Money Food was great and staff were very friendly. Excellent for dogs with a secure area for them to run around in Would definitely come again

I haven't stayed here, so can't speak to the quality of the accommodation. However, I was fortunate enough to be staying in self catering accommodation within a very short walk away, and came here 4 times for food and beer. I have to say I am totally mystified by the negative reviews here. I wonder if they went to the... More

Based on recommendation in Cumbria Life we decided to have a day out from Carlisle, taking a scenic drive over Wrynose and Hardknott culminating in a lunch stop at this dog-friendly pub. 140 mile round trip in the end. Big mistake (the lunch stop that is, not the drive). The two new girls waitressing and manning the bar (their first... More

Went here for food. We had pre ordered a table which on arrival was booked for another day. After this we were placed in a room away from the main pub. Ordered our food separately however placed it under the same table number and were told it would arrive on time and together . Our food arrived separately and over... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights to visit family nearby with our Basset Hound, Molly. Not only was she allowed to sleep in our room with us, for £10 per night she was also given a special breakfast consisting of sausage, egg, bacon and black pudding! She also was able to sit with us in the bar while... More

I stayed here with my wife and dog in May 2014. to sum it up, pretty much a huge mistake. The room we were given, was nothing like on the website, totally worn down and in dire need of upgrading. The room was really noisey, you got woken up by the kitchen staff in the morning turning on the extractor... More

If you want a hearty welcome, hearty food, hearty beer and hearty scenery stay here. If you want namby-pampy - don't! The Hardknock beer will put hairs on the chesty and the if the wind and rain doesn't blow it off the powerful shower will. Proper pub.

I dined at the Woolpack with family and friends during May. Having tried Breakfast, Lunch and you guessed it, Dinner at this Pub, I couldn't recommend them more highly to other visitors. The food was fantastic and well cooked. Should you wish to have a drink, they have local Ciders and Ales, along with other International Larger's etc. The Pub... More
