We went to the Woolpack for an evening meal with friends and family. The bar staff are friendly and the beer was very good. However, the meal was distinctly average. Although the pizza was reasonably good the Sunday roast was not. The quality was more like a School dinner than a Sunday treat.

The pub offers a good range of home made foods. The homemade pizzas are fantastic on the homemade base. Plenty of places to walk from here for people of all abilities. Looking forward to the cider an sausage festival this month.

Stayed at rowan bank cottage with a group of friends which was next door to this handy pub :) good choice of beers and ciders at a reasonable price. food was tasty with plenty of choice. would recommend the pizza's and you had the option of having that as takeaway. The pool table was a great addition to this pub... More

Another selection excellent bar meals enjoyed by everyone. Opted for the Pig Burger with Chips cooked in dripping, washed down with a couple of pints. Love fire keeping evening chill at bay. Everything excellent and enjoyed by all.

Had an overnight stay whilst up in Cumbria for work. Lovely warm atmosphere and friendly staff. Sat in front of one of the many wood burning stoves and had a few of the local beers. The damson gin was amazing according to my colleague. I would definitely come back again for leisure and enjoy the walks in the stunning surroundings.

Our party of 16 stayed in the Woolpack's ancillary accommodation called Stanley House, approximately 2 miles down the valley from the Woolpack Inn. We had stayed there a couple of years ago and were met in the same friendly format as before. The house accommodates large parties and there were other guests (couples). The facilities are various with a large... More

Came upon this place purely by accident, having negotiated Hardknott Pass in a 40 year old VW Camper. Wonderful barman in a very cool bar. Couldn't do enough, great conversation, friendly locals. Dog loved log burner. Really good local sourced food, nice range of drinks. Got late, no campsites, stay in car park if you like, he says, charge your... More

A very good site to be based for walking the Western Lake District with no real need for a car once you are installed as there is good walking in all directions from the inn. Bedroom was OK - had everything we needed but a little small. Breakfast was very good with generous portions! The public rooms were all warm... More

a group of 5 of us, plus a 3 month old baby, spent 3 nights at the Woolpack. We could not have been better looked after, nothing was too much trouble and although I was a pain in the bum having forgotten various baby type things, everyone made us feel totally at home. Food good, staff friendly, rooms comfy. Thank... More

Woolpack Inn is in the heart of Cumbria, which is what we wanted, but close to the Hardknott Pass for thrill seekers, and also accessible to other attraction centres of the county. We were driving and were in Cumbria for the first time, so we travelled around a lot, without the location being a hassle. Returning to ours rooms at... More
