Really poor in many ways. Shabby tired feel to the place- loos smelt dreadfull. And that is before we checked into our room - really basic in many ways and so many cobwebs. Not clean at all- mold in bathroom and door would not shut. Beer was fine what we tried but did not eat due to cleanliness. For £90... More

We stayed here for one night. The cost was £45 per person bed and breakfast and we booked a double room. The room was really tiny and very poorly furnished. The decor was dreadful with a whole wall of atrocious pine cladding. There was a huge hole in the wall where the door handle repeatedly banged into it. The bathroom... More

At the end of the spectacularly beautiful and slightly scary hard Knott pass lies an inn and cafe of great interest. The food is delicious and the choice of beers is great. Their own gins etc are a delight. Can't wait to go back and stay for a couple of nights!! The resident dog "woolly" is a joy. Loves anyone... More

This was our second visit to the Woolpack. Despite the nerve wracking journey over Hard Knott Pass last year in the dark (not recommended), I couldn't wait to go back (there is an easier way to get there!) We had a wonderful 2 night stay and were sad to leave. The staff are so friendly and the food delicious -... More

We've visited The Woolpack several times in recent years on our annual visit to The Lakes. It's a lovely location and there's a decent selection of beers. However this year the draft ciders were undrinkable and all drinks, especially soft ones, were expensive. Food is ok, but we feel the quality has dropped over the years. Chips in particular used... We stayed here for two nights Aug 18-19th August with our dog for a change and previously read some of the reviews .My readers who follow me know I always give an honest opinion based on my stay and tell it as it is. Firstly the young staff whilst we visited should be commended for their courteous nature, hard work... More

A lovely venue with a really child friendly setup. The food portions were far too small. The 'Tatie Pot' in particular is to be avoided. Miniscule and would not do as a starter let alone a main for £9.50!

Tucked away -- almost literally -- in the middle of nowhere on a narrow road winding from Hardknott Pass towards Cumbria's west coast, the Woolpack is one of the oddest mixes of ancient and modern, traditional and aspirational boutique we've ever encountered anywhere. Walk in the door to the pub and you're in a world which dates back to 1729,... More

Fabulous pub, very charming. Definitely worth a visit. The best pub in the area in my opinion, much better than the Boot which fell woefully short. We particularly liked that they pick you up from the entrance of the pub on a lorry to prevent you having to climb a hill to get there. Highly recommended - keep up the... More

I had visited the a Woolpack last year and decided to use this a the venue for a family celebration weekend. As in October I was not disappointed. Harry and Paddington have developed this Inn to a high standard - they have well trained, well motivated staff who actually know how to talk to people and apologise if something is... More
