Visited this nicely located pub restaurant twice in the last month After our first experience we were singing its praises to friends and family and encouraged them to give it a try Unfortunately when they didn't seem to voice their own experience quite as favourably as ours we visited again this weekend and sadly we were very disappointed. The place... More

3 nights here whilst adding to our list of Wainrights. Great atmosphere and ideal for walkers and others involved in outdoor pursuits. Friendly and extremely helpful staff in particular Padington who took my wet boots home to dry on the Aga! It takes determination and some skill to negotiate the pass to reach the Woolpack in particular Hardknott Pass.

Our first impression of the WoolPack after walking the Hardknott Pass in a white-out was hallelujah! Lovely hotel, beer tent set up, lots of people having fun. Sat straight down to a couple of pints and a reminisce of our arduous hike. Checked into our rooms and was surprised to find that one of the bathrooms for our ensuite twin... More

This Inn varies between a 2* & 4* Hotel. Our room was a 2*, The food was a 3*, but the location and bar areas are both 4*. We ate breakfasts there on 3 of the 4 mornings. We ate one meal there on the first night which was ok. but there are better pubs nearby offering greater variety and... More

My wife booked me a 2 day photography workshop in the Lakes as a 50th birthday treat and we thought we might as well make a holiday out of it. We were recommended the Woolpack by my friend who was running the course. From the time of booking until the time we left for home, I can honestly say it... More

We stopped here on the 14th June 2015 for Sunday lunch with the family. Had heard great things from a campsite in Boot and were really looking forward to it. The food was mediocre at best. The "Sunday Roast with all the trimmings" (Chicken in this case) was awful. The chicken was a shredded chicken breast swimming in gravy. The... More

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Woolpack during a cycle tour of the Lakes, and found it to be extremely enjoyable. The staff were totally accommodating, helping us plan our hike to Scarfell Pike, providing us with packed lunches for excursions, and giving us all the information we needed to plan and continue with our trip with peace of... Stayed at the Boot Inn down the road and sorry we didn't stop here. Walked up here for a visit as it was part of the Beer festival. Glad we did, it was supposed to be a short visit and we ended up being there about 6 hours, oops! It's an odd pub and a tale of 3 pubs, there... More

We have loved the Eskdale valley and have stayed many times in our tent and a cottage in Boot, as we saw a special deal in the Woolpack for the bank holiday weekend which included dinner & B&B we opted for this. Our room was overlooking the front, car park, and has a big bed and room for our two... More

I had a meal here with a group of 12 friends on Bank Holiday Monday and although the food was good, the customer service was atrocious, as it was basically staffed by disinterested gap year students. Half of the real sales were off - leaving a selection of three very similar pale ales. The main course took over an hour... More
