I was welcomed as soon as I pulled into the car park by Will who helped with my bags to my room. He introduced me to my room mate too which was nice. Their place is home from home and really lovely. My room was really spacious for the two if us (three single beds) and only 2 of us.... More

Spotless, large and quiet room with en-suite. Magazines, tea and coffee making facilities. Old house very well looked after. Excellent breakfast, with everything bar the beans and mushrooms their own produce. Particularly good sausages and bacon from their own pigs. A short walk to the Boot and Shoe pub in this lovely village. Secure storage for our bikes. Friendly hosts,... More

Jill and Will must be the friendliest and most helpful owners ever, nothing was too much trouble, from washing and drying our wet cycling gear to taking me down to the village to pick up our luggage. The breakfast was excellent, the rooms were clean and comfortable some people have commented on the rooms being a bit sparse but given... More

What an excellent welcome and stay. From the moment we arrived to the point we had to leave we were made to feel very welcome and at home. Easy, secure storage for the bikes and a drink on the sunny deck. The room and bathroom were faultless and I loved all of the ornaments and antiques. Breakfast was superb with... More

Upon arriving we were greeted and looked after instantly. After a long hard ride from Whitehaven we had a lovely cold drink with Will and Jill and their lovqely friends and enjoyed the sunshine in their front garden. Each and every guest arrived and were greeted with the same generosity and warmth. Not only was the hospitality spot on, our... More

This is a lovely old house with a welcoming landlady who cooks an excellent breakfast mostly of her own produce. It is close to an excellent and well known pub for you supper. However, £80 for a double room for a night is far too much. Our room was totally lacking in detail and facilities. By all means stay here... More

I find myself confused by the other reviews. My friend and I stayed one night and certainly Jill is friendly, but the overwhelming sense was of starkness. I was in a large room with four single beds and absolutely no decoration apart from a few stuffed toys - no pictures, one chair, one chest of drawers. There were no drinking... More

Having tried to book into the local pub in Greystoke which was unfortunately full, the landlady passed us onto Beech House who had a room available, still within the village, which was great as we were visiting friends in Greystoke. What a delight Beech House was! In fact we were quite pleased the pub was full, and we had to... More

My partner and I stayed at Beech house in January whilst cycling the coast to coast route. Will and Jill have created a really special bed and breakfast with perfect facilities for those both cycling in the area or just visiting. The house itself is a testament to their skills - having been a wing of a country house it... More
