A short notice booking for four nights was taken professionally and clearly by friendly owner. On arrival the atmosphere was welcoming and accomodating. After sorting my room out a visit to the bar downstairs for a pint of local ale and a look through the menu which was comprehensive and would to suit most tastes. Having settled for the steak... The Stork hotel offers evening meals. From the main road The Stork is rather unassuming, and once through the front door you still won't be impressed - two small rooms, one with a bar and the other with a pool table and TV. There is a small but very clean and tidy restaurant at the back. I have been to... More

Paul was happy to collect us from the pub in Ennerdale Bridge after our first days walking C2C. The rooms were comfortable and the showers really revived us after our walk. The food was very good, we tried to explain suet to Americans! There was a good selection of real ale on the bar and we really enjoyed our stay.... More

We stayed here on day 2 of the C2C walk. We were met by Paul in the Courtesy bus from Ennerdale Bridge as it is 2 miles away. The staff were very friendly but the room was tiny with a minute bathroom. Only skinny people in the shower. It was clean though. The dining area was dreary with natural light... More

We visited the Stork in August 2012 and witnessed the unforgettable Super Saturday 3 gold medals won in the London Olympics in the cosy bar lounge. We stayed again with them in May 2013 as our first stopover whilst doing the C2C with friends. Paul and Joan are really friendly and welcoming hosts. The accommodation is nice and comfortable with... I visit my dad in cumbria and we always try to get to the stork. The food is always fantastic and service brilliant. There is a real warm feeling about the place with an open fire and real ale. If your doing the C2C i'd recommend it as a stop anytime!

Stayed in single room summer 2011 when walking coast to coast. The owners were very friendly, extremely helpful, kind and generous. Lovely clean, comfy accomodation. The meal at night and breakfast was great and generous portions. Would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in this area.
