We stayed here whilst walking the Coast to Coast in June 2013 and were very impressed. Our room was a little cramped space-wise but very comfortable. The food was excellent and the atmosphere in the pub very warm and friendly. It was one of our favourite overnight stops of the walk and we would definitely come here again.

I am an elderly but adventurous teddy bear who stayed at the Shepherds Arms with my family for one night in May. We arrived late because of dreadful traffic but nevertheless received a warm welcome when we eventually arrived. The parents and kids had a delicious (and enormous) meal. Breakfast was also lovely and the chef happily cooked something different... More

We stayed here for one night while walking the Coast to Coast and received a warm welcome. Our room was spacious, well equipped, comfortable and clean. We ate in the hotel in the evening and the food was exceptionally good. The staff were pleasant and friendly. Breakfast was very nice. All in all a very pleasant stay.

We stayed at the Shepherd's Arms while walking the Coast to Coast in April 2013. We had a very spacious room and they have a huge drying room - great for walkers. The pub was very friendly and food was excellent quality. The landlord was extremely friendly, this is a great traditional pub B&B

This was our first trip to Ennerdale Bridge and were surprised at the welcome we received and what value for money £70 for a twin room including breakfast. The main point though is when booking they ask if you were walking on the fells where you were planning and what is your estimated time of arrival. A little intrusive you... More

We live locally but had never been to The Shepherds Arms before and on recomendations from friends we booked for Sunday lunch on 14th April, taking the family. We were taking a baby with us so asked if they had a high chair available which was waiting for us when we arrived. The food was superb. The roast dinner was... More

We ate dinner here twice last week whilst staying in the area. The hostess gave us a great welcome and the homemade food was excellent in quality and value. Particular recommended Steak and Kidney Pudding!

In recent years I have visited the Shepherds on numerous occasions and always been disappointed until now.. I called in a couple of weeks ago to find helpful friendly staff and a new landlord who I recognised immediately from another establishment I used to visit regularly. This was a welcome change from previous service I had here. I would reccommend... More

Stopped and had lunch here during our recent trip to Cumbria. Enjoyed their homemade vegetable soup and sandwiches for lunch. The food was delicious and well worth every penny. The staff were really helpful and friendly too. Would highly recommend a visit!
