Stayed here recently for 2 nights and was very disappointed. The rooms are badly in need of upgrading or even decorating with carpets etc. very worn. £140 for 2 nights here with no breakfast included is robbery, The bar area seemed not too bad so maybe should just be trading as a pub.

We popped in at five one evening to see if the food was being served and ena the Thai Cook said she will do it .A nice pint of local ale and a selection of freshly cooked Thai food that tasted great and we were all set for the night .very welcoming hosts we will return.

Thank you to the Crown for making us feel so welcome with our noisy little boy. We had a mix of English and Thai food, both equally fantastic. We really need to visit more often. Try this place you will not be disappointed. Thank you both for a great experience

There is no doubt that the place could do with a bit of updating but it was clean and friendly. We were greeted and seated straight away and the ladies service is we're lovely especially towards the children. The food wasn't fancy it was a good, home cooked roast dinner at a very reasonable price. The portions were big, my... More

On a recent business trip I pondered upon this place by chance. On entering to enquire about booking a room I was greeted by Mike Gardiner the landlord, and instantly felt a warm friendly atmosphere. Great Pub - Mike serves a really good pint, great food - Anna the Chef will do you anything from a tender and tasty Stilton... More

we recently stayed in Eamont Bridge near Penrith and needed an evening meal. The place looked deserted but we went inside. We were the only people eating and nobody else came in while we were there to eat. Friendly enough people and food was ok. Just standard food nothing fancy. I had scampi and chips and frozen peas. My husband... More

We spent our middle day of the C2C here. We had paid in advance as we stayed over bank holiday and didn't know if we would get in anywhere. I agree with some of the comments about the hotel needing decorating but its an old 17th century inn with lots of history. The bar area is presentable and the rooms... More

What a dire place!! Seriously out of date and a total dump! We stayed in Room 7, our bathroom was along the corridor and I would not, could not, have used the bath cum shower - bath was grotty and shower hose filthy (obviously not used for a long time). No shower curtain! The sink taps, when turned on swivelled... More

Stayed here for a night and the first thing we noticed was that we were unable to lock our room from the outside. The manager was along fairly quickly with a bunch of spare keys to try in the lock. After about three attempts, he found one that would open the door when he tried. Thinking everything would be fine,... More
