I stayed in this hotel for a few nights while on business. The hotel certainly takes you back in time. The ground's were lovely to sit in and relax and are very well maintained. The hotel itself might not suit all due to not having all the mod cons, the signal on my phone was none existant and no wifi. My... More

We stayed here at the start of my husband's mad 3 day cycle event which was kicking off at 6am in Whitehaven the following morning. To my amazement the hotel called me before our stay and asked if we were part of the cycling event. As they had so many staying they started breakfast at 4:30am for all of us.... More

We stayed here in mid-June for a weekend break (2 nights). After a delightful journey through the spectacular, sun-kissed Lake District, we arrived early-evening at the hotel to be greeted by a friendly receptionist who provided information about the hotel's facilities, meal times, etc., Our first floor room, in the adjoining 2-storey annex, was clean, spacious and comfortable with adequate... The hotel is set within a old stylish country house which is full of character and original features. We found it a real treat to stay and unwind here after having spent the day climbing up Scafell Pike. It is located within easy reach of the West Lakes and Whitehaven. The staff were very hospitable and we received a warm... More

Where shall I start.. I always give honest reviews, I read them myself and take the good with the bad and form my own opinion. if its good I say so but must say to describe this place is was like staying at Faulty Towers. I'm not sure if this is a franchise or whether the Manager has a housekeeping... More

We have recently stayed in this hotel. We really enjoyed old style building, classic atmosphere, cozy halls, bar and restaurant. The room was spacious with hall, wardrobe, bed, settee, TV etc. We stayed at the weekend and the only negative was the floors upstairs were really noisy, I am a light sleeper and I couldn't relax till all the guests... Hi Peter, Thank you for your positive comments regarding your stay at the Ennerdale. Glad to note that you appreciated the spacious room and many aspects of the older style hotel and atmosphere. Sorry to note that you were late in getting to sleep due to the noise of persons walking around above your room. It is one point that... More

We were recommended this hotel by a colleague who had been there a few years ago. I think the owners have either changed hands or have lost interest The Hotel is set in lovely grounds but I'm afraid that's about it! The gardens are immaculate and are very pleasant to relax in with a glass of wine after a day... More

Dear Reviewer, Thank you for your comments regarding your stay with us at The Ennerdale. I was sorry to note your disappointment with certain aspects with your stay, but can assure you they are at present being addressed. The situation with the wi-fi was due to a problem external to the hotel affecting the guest wi-fi system. This has since... More

I love charming old hotels with a lot of history and I appreciate a professional staff that makes their guests feel welcome. The Ennerdale Country House Hotel has both of these qualities. The room is comfortable and clean. The breakfast was made to order and delicious. We also ate dinner there tonight and it was lovely. I would definitely stay... More

We stayed on Saturday night (7th June) - myself and 2 sons sharing a 3-bed room. Great location, friendly staff, good breakfast, clean and tidy, large and airy. Will stay again when we're back next year.

After reading other comments via trip advisor I arrived open minded but was quick to appreciate the comments made about the hotels tired apprearence. When pulling up on the car park I didn't even recognise the hotel from the pictures at first as these are taken from the back off the hotel. It's a shame because this hotel has alot... More
