There isnt much not to like at the Lodore Hotel. The location is a great point, near the waters edge of lake Derwentwater. It was very close in fact we visited due to the recent floods. The staff are all keen to help, assist and are polite and smartly attired. We had an initial issue with a bedroom- despite the... More

One night's stay on 4th Feb - all staff, from receptionists to waiters to cleaners, were very friendly and polite. Excellent evening meal with fabulous service. Room was very clean and comfortable - would not hesitate to return.

Had a very enjoyable one night stay. Staff are friendly and very efficient. Rooms are spotlessly clean and of a high standard. Parts of the hotel are a little bit dated - the lift very tiny and if you are on an upper level it would be difficult to fit your suitcases in. The evening meal was very good with... More

We stayed her after visiting many times while walking in the area. We had a lake view, snow on catbells was a welcome sight after all the rain. It was great to be able to book the hot tub and not have to share it with strangers. The evening meal was delicious and the staff were attentive and very professional... More

We had a one night break with 2 other couples and were all delighted! There are lots of individual lounge areas, many with their own cosy fires, and attentive staff who work hard to ensure you relax and enjoy all that is on offer. The hotel is lovely - traditionally styled, warm and well maintained - just what you need... More

Have stayed here several years ago and was overjoyed to find the high standards have been maintained. We got a free upgrade to a lake view, which was lovely. Pool and sauna very quiet, therefore very relaxing. We had complimentary tea and scones on arrival which were delicious. Evening meal was included, we paid a £7.50 supplement as my husband... More

Getting to the hotel was problematic. Main road from Ambleside to Keswick was closed due to flooding but nothing to indicate this until very close, resulting in a major detour. Not hotel's fault but they could have contacted us to advise. Hot chocolate and crumpets on arrival only apply for arrivals before 5pm. Wifi is free!!! It also doesn't exist.... More

Dear 'osharp' Thank you for your review, I'm sorry to hear there were aspects of your stay that you felt fell short. We have updated our webpage to reflect the closure of the A591 which will not be open until late May at the earliest. We have Wi Fi across the majority of the hotel, the speed into the hotel... Did this on a Travel Zoo deal. Not cheap but worth every penny. Excellent staff, a beautiful room and hotel and fine dining. The leisure club is very small but worth a visit. Make sure you book the external hot tub. You have it all to yourselves. Wink wink. The standard deal menu is good but worth the £7.50 up... More

Stayed here for a short four day holiday and loved it! Made most welcome by all the friendly and attentive staff. Upgraded to a beautiful large lakeview room, fantastic. This is a warm, cosy, elegant and comfortable hotel in a beautiful position with excellent facilities including a small indoor pool etc. Spotlessly clean and tidy throughout. A relaxing lounge/bar that... More
