The location and setting is first class. The welcome from owner Anne is both friendly and welcoming. The house is fantastic and husband Mike is an expert on the local and other birdlife, full of useful information that helped us immensely. We had the larger en-suite room that was very comfortable and with plenty space for the two nights that... More

Lovely place in the green Cumbria. The Victorian house is perfectly squeaky and cosy, the two rooms are comfortable, Mrs. Robinson affable, unobtrusive and very kind. The garden is simply beautiful beyond word and the breakfast mouthwatering. Been there two times, always with too much to do to simply enjoy the quiet and beautiful simplicity of the place. Will be... More

Stayed at Barn Close with my brother, mother and father. Mum is a very keen gardener and avid twitcher - so both her loves were fulfilled at this B&B! We stayed in a lovely fresh and well-decorated room overlooking the garden - mum using binoculars to watch the variety of birds at the birdfeeder. Breakfast was very tasty with high... More

Wow is the word when you come down the drive & see the house. Beautiful gardens in a very peaceful setting. Mike took us to our room a twin over looking the garden. A lovely homely room spotlessly clean as was the bathroom which had a bath & shower. The beds were really comfortable & we had a good nights... More

Annie and Mike provide welcome hospitality with good tips on where to eat, places to visit, and local sights, not to mention local bird and wildlife. The house is spacious with comfortable rooms and is set in Annie's lovely garden. Breakfasts are excellent too!

I stayed at Barn Close recently whilst attending a training course in the area and I could not have hoped for a better place to stay. Anne was fab - she was warm and welcoming and cooked the most fantastic breakfasts every day. It is a lovely house with a beautiful garden and despite being within easy access of the... More

We stayed here for a night as part of a motorcycle tour of the Lake District. We were in the twin bedroom with separate bathroom. The bedroom was small but adequate and very comfortable. The fact that it wasn't en suit didn't bother us. We had an evening meal at the local pub followed by a walk around Anne's fantastic... More

We spent a comfortable night at barn close breaking up the journey between the highlands of scotland and winchester at the end of the family holiday. It was comfortable, good value and just what we needed. The perfect stopover to break up a journey between scotland and the south! On arrival my three young children exploded from the car to...
