Beautiful hotel in a great location. Staff were friendly and keen to help, showing me to my room which was to a great standard and very clean. I ate my evening meal in the restaurant and the food was excellent and fairly priced. Would highly recommend this hotel

An enjoyable 1 night stay in the Alston House Hotel in December 2014. A few pints in the Turks Head in the village followed by a delicious meal at the hotel, a great night's sleep and a good breakfast. A cafetiere and coffee in the room was a nice touch much appreciated.

Stayed here on a travelzoo deal, hotel has lots of old world charm mixed with a modern twist. The food was of good quality and great value. Alston does not have a lot to offer as a winter town Penrith not too far away though certainly worth a visit here

Stayed here with friends for one night on Travelzoo vouchers. Lovely quaint rooms, which were very clean and comfortable. The food was really lovely, well cooked, presented and good portions. The restaurant was very relaxing and Christmasy. Great service too. I would have given it 5 stars, but the girl who checked us in was more interested in having our... More

Visited alston house when staying at barney crag. We all had lunch which was hot, tasty and reasonably priced. Allows dogs and staff were very pleasant in nice surroundings. Would recommend without hesitation, we were in the cafe part and thoroughly the experience.

We stayed here for two nights recently and absolutely loved this hotel. The rooms were all lovely, cosy and very quiet. The en-suite was large with a fabulous shower and free standing bath. Food in the restaurant was great with plenty of choice - excellent breakfast too. Service was excellent throughout. An added bonus was the lovely coffee shop on... More

This is a lovely family run hotel, which has been refurbished beautifully, without loosing the charm of an older building. comfortable beds, flat screen TV and amazing bathrooms.
