A superb menu in the restaurant which made me decide I'd want to come back for a few days next time instead of just one night while on the Pennine Way. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and hospitable. Overall a really enjoyable hotel to stay in.

We've just come back from a two night living social deal break and will stay at Alston House Hotel again. Our room was beautiful with a large comfy bed and a very grand bathroom. There was a lovely garden and having not been to Alston we were blown away by the beauty of the area. The food was excellent and... More

This was the 2nd night of our first ever C2C. My son and I had hoped to go further but the weather was so bad we had to stop earlier than planned. Very tired and extremely wet we could not have been made more welcome. Our bikes were quickly and safely stored away and we were installed in a lovely... More

We have just returned from a 2 day living social break with parents. The hotel itself is very comfy although it could do a little bit of a makeover in places. Our parents bedroom had signs of a damp patch, and the stair carpet could do with replacing. I must say though that our bathroom in room 5 was amazing.... More

The bathroom was 5*--except for plastic glasses The lamb I had at dinner was the best ever All in all a very pleasant and... More

I really cannot fault Alston House or it's staff, I booked this hotel as a stopover whilst doing the coast to Coast with a group of friends and it proved to be anything but "just a stopover" From my initial enquiry right through to leaving was a pleasure, the staff are excellent, food was excellent, and the rooms are excellent,... Not the most striking building from the outside but do not let that put you off....apart from the wonderful warm welcome from Carole and family.....the hotel offers everything one would want for a short break. The bedroom (5) was large and well furnished.....nice en-suite but I did not get the hang of he shower.....the food....dinner and breakfast..... was excellent.

This hotel was used for my group's first night stop during our recent C2c cycle challenge. On arrival, they allowed us to secure our bikes inside the hotel, we then got stuck into some much needed cake & coffee in the hotel's cafe (fresh & very nice). The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable - no problems in getting a... More
