Nice building and nice location. Stayed here mid week. The single room was very small, water supply in bathroom was very noisy (sounded like a faulty pump), very heavy metal basket in shower fell off wall whilst I was taking a shower and could have caused injury. I know this is an old building but the floorboards everywhere were very... More

We stayed here last Saturday night having decided to eat at a bistro further up the high street. We got a rate of £95.00 including breakfast. We did have a snack in the afternoon and then went up to the room - It must have been 30 degrees! We returned after dinner and tried to sleep with all the windows... More

Stayed here for a night after cancelling our booking for the nearby MacDonald Portal (which we found to be a bland anodyne coroporate kind of place). We we looked after very well by everyone we dealt with and were offered a pleasant and reasonably spacious family room which overlooked the beer garden and car park but was actually quite alright... The place itself oozes character and is set on a pretty and very typically English high street in a small but classy Cheshire village. With such physical attributes pub/hotels often rest on their laurals and rely on the inevitable flow of guests to keep afloat. The Swan is different - you genuinely feel that the place, and the staff, are... More

Great little find, I have been using this hotel for over ten years as part of my business trips, traditional English hotel, real Ale on tap and excellent food. The hotel has an outside sitting area to the rear and has many small lounges within the hotel meaning you can always find a quiet place to work or read. Some... More

We were travelling back from Ireland with a guide dog. The staff were superb, friendly, efficient and you really felt they meant it when asking if everything was alright. We had a well appointed ground floor room in an outbuilding at the back, so convenient with a dog. A very decent drop of real ale in the oak beamed bar... More

Tarporley is a beautiful English country village and the Swan is right in the centre. The rooms are clean and comfortable, some are in an annexe at the rear but there was no noise problems. There is a small car park at the rear. The food was good as well with breakfast cooked to order and an extensive menu for lunch... More

Two day midweek break to walk the sandstone trail. We are regular short break country pub customers. We like our walking during day & good food & beer/wine in the evening. The Swan was pretty faultless--good room without being awesome (but for £65???), the best breakfast we can recall & very nice food from a good menu at reasonable prices... More
