When I walked in it was like being transported back in time to my childhood in the seventies. Soft focus wedding photos resplendent with kipper ties and Kevin Keegan perms adorn the wall opposite the reception area. Sara Moon portraits tastefully add to the overall ambience. After asking staff directions to my room, my inital glee was not dampened. In fact, my expectations were exceeded upon entering my room. The aroma of chip pan fat lingered pleasantly, but particularly in the toilet. My colleagues who also stayed at the hotel noted similar odours in their rooms. Ths may be a marketing ploy by the hotel management to entice customers to try their deep fat fried menu. A tad cheeky, but understandable. The decor of the rooms looks as though it has not been changed for thirty years, I suspect in order to preserve the authenticity of the seventies theme.
