For 35 quid a night through Expedia, this hotel was by far the cheapest in the area. I'd learnt previously that this was possibly the worst hotel in the UK according to an internet poll. So why bother staying here I hear you ask? Well, I'm a cheapskate! and we needed somewhere at short notice (booked at 7pm of the... more

We stayed in this hotel as we were at a wedding about 6 miles away. On arrival we could see there was renovations taking place. When we got to reception there were plenty of signs saying that the renovations were happening and apologising for any inconvenience caused, which there was none really! The rooms were standard, the shower was amazing!... more

First of all the hotel is very reasonably priced. It has a pool, sauna, jacuzzi and small gym. So in that respect Britannia is a bargain. With the price I was willing to have some compromise - the old and tired decor, worn furniture and slightly slow checkin wouldn't have bothered me. However, a few small but important hotel basics... more

I spent four nights at the Britannia. I picked the hotel because of the location and facilities but was expecting it to be pretty poor after reading the reviews here. I'm pleased to say that I was pleasantly surprised. It turned out to be a nice visit to a pleasant but inexpensive hotel. The room was clean and reasonably comfortable,... more

I stayed here for one night with 2 of my friends before flying out of manchester airport, hotel is only about a 15 minute drive away. Check in was very pleasent and was done with a very pleasent staff member. I read a few of the reviews on here before going and it really made me think what have I... more

Oh dear.....What can we say. Myself and my partner booked this along with our holiday as part of a package with 15 Days car parking attached. It was booked with Thomas cook and was very cheap. £60 for hotel and parking. On arrival however we were met with a hotel in desperate need of refurbishement. the check in was tediously... more

This hotel was way below the minimum standard of any b&b or hotel. The rooms are thoroughly disgraceful, dirty, and uncomfortable. The bathroom had not be cleaned, there was urine stains all over the floor, lime scale in the bath, dirty tiles, and the smell was over powering of waste. The bedroom had dirty carpets, was dusty, and old bedding... more

I stayed at this hotel whilst attending a course at the nearby hospital. Sadly I had not read the reviews on Tripadvisor beforehand - if I had I would have stayed away because my experience was the same as many others. The staff were mostly slow, surly and unhelpful. The room was cold with a broken tv. The kettle in... more
