Friendly, lovely staff, great food & fine ales & wine. Really enjoyable stay in room 303. Can't understand negative reviews. Had a fabulous stay.

We are local to the Bears Head and previously have never been happy with the service or the food, but that was over a year and half ago. We decided to try the pub again and we took my 2 Grandparents which one is blind and the other is in a wheelchair, and my 2 children, 1 year old and... More

We stayed for three nights great value for money. Rooms were clean but very small, You opened the door to the room and in there is a little hallway with the bathroom off it, the bathroom is of average size with a (continuous dripping) shower and bath. BUT then there is a door to the bedroom and wow ........... its... More

We stayed here for three nights in room 101, Bagers Rest. It was quite a small room but the bathroom had just been refurbished. However it was quite noisy, as alterations being made next door. Staff polite and helpful. Nice location and would stay again.

I visited this pub with a friend, having been for a walk at the nearby park. It was 10.50am, the door was open, so we went in, hoping for a cup of coffee. We were met by someone who told us she'd 'try to find someone to serve us', which we thought was a little odd as there was several... More

Went for dinner, food was slow apparently there were two parties before us, but from what I could see amounted to about 20 people in total. Table was never wiped down, we had to ask for cutlery, food very average as 3 steaks only. Shame as lovely setting spoilt by average staff and average service. Unfortunately mediocre. wouldn't go back!

The above title came home to roost when I went for breakfast. No cooked food just fruit and cornflakes, helpyourself no tables set, get your own tea uuuuggggghhh. What rubbish. The dinner was just fast food rubbish. The rooms however were clean and not to bad.

I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. We do take all feedback seriously. All our booking websites including late rooms clearly state the breakfast which is included in the room price is a continental buffet. With a buffet it is usual for guests to help themselves to the food and drinks. We have now started offering... More

Stayed here for three nights in August on a special promotional deal, £75 for three nights including continental braekfast. How cheap can you get. Nice Pub with friendly atmosphere and some decent cask ales. Food was of a good quality and not overpriced and the service was prompt and friendly. Rooms were in an annexe, twin with ensuite bathroom, flat... More

Check in during the late afternoon was pleasant and cheerful. Was shown personally to my room which was in the main building. Some other rooms in an annexe were being redecorated. The room on the ground floor was small but perfectly adequate with a reasonably sized en-suite shower. My only negative aspect, was when a very noisy guest arrived in... More

Again stayed at the Bears Head. This time in one of the annex rooms. This had been newly refurbished with fresh paint and new carpets throughout. The stay cost us £34 including a quite substantial continental breakfast. Yes, the rooms are quite small but well appointed and very, very quiet. There were extra pillows, complementary toothbrushes and little items you... More
