Very nice quirky hotel Friendly staff Rooms are clean Found it very loud, maybe that's the fact it's a weekend but didn't sleep much unfortunately. I would come again but probably ask for a room not at the front Lovely bar. Real ales on tap and comfy bar area Very convenient as right in the heart of town centre

Loved the quirky place. Loads of character. Nice room, quite suitable for overnight or a couple of days. Decent bar food. Breakfast was terrible. The food looked lost on the plate. One piece of bacon, one sausage, half a tomato, half a mushroom and a very hard poached egg. Brought this up when checking out. We were advised that the... More

I stayed for a Sunday night and arrived late; the owner/manager was busy at the bar but a) directed me to a sound Indian restaurant nearby as the hotel restaurant was shut and b) took my suitcase upstairs for me while i parked in the reserved slot some 50m away. PLeasant breakfast served by friendly local staff. None of the... More

Afternoon tea for 88 wedding guests, followed by hot supper for 150 in the evening at the Crown on 8th March 2014. This experience was second to none. From our first meeting with Abbi and discussing our bespoke wedding plans all the staff at the Crown rose to every challenge and request from us. They produced exactly what we wanted,... More

Mostly a very good experience: Very clean room, good facilities, lovely bath room. Quicky room - number 10 - would recommend. Good quality breakfast - would have benefited from two sausages rather than just one. Good quality bar menu, expensive pub food, but almost restaurant quality. The hotel is 400 years old and doesn't have a flat floor anywhere -... More

The hotel should make it clear on the website that staying on a Saturday night you are not likely to get any sleep until around 4.30am, as there was either a late night pub or club only metres away and no let up. Other than this, the hotel was very good, food very good and the room, basic but clean.

Dear 'Trish H' We are sorry to hear you had a sleepless night with us due to the noise, unfortunately this is an on-going problem we have and we are constantly battling with the council to reduce licencing hours of the late night venues but they don't seem to listen or do anything for us. With the nature of the... More

We have passed this hotel and walked through its arcade of shops for many years; but as we only live 60 minutes away we have always drove home after Holly Holy day. This year we decided to stay and after admiring this building from the outside for all those years we decided to try it. Upon arriving our first problem... More

Very interesting hotel,of the period where nothing was flat or straight, service and rooms are good, but do not have a great deal to drink if you are staying at the top of the hotel,as they are very steep and small. Excellent meal, and handily placed for our business trip, would receomend.

Dear martyboy, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on us. It's great to see that you appreciate the period that our wonderful building comes from. We work very hard to look after it and the customers that visit us. It is not always easy with a 16th Century coaching inn that is a listed building. Also... More
