I stayed at Cliveden at the end of November. We had booked the Lady Astor suite which is the top suite. When we arrived we had to wait over 1 hour before being able to get keys for the room. The room was breathtakingly amazing, but on closer inspection was very shabby and there were holes in furniture, peeling wallpaper... more

What can I say? well you wouldn’t know either if you had stayed in this unique luxury stately home; dedicated to the pursuit of pleasure, power and politics for over 300 years. It is absolutely breath taking. The rooms are so magnificent with the original decor - you feel like a lord and lady and the staff certainly make you... more

After staying at the Cliveden for a family wedding I must advise readers of this forum that this hotel is over-priced with no attention to detail and lacklustre service. I was fortunate in staying in the Vanderbilt suite, which is located on the ground floor of the West Wing. The view overlooks the entrance of the house and grand drive... more

I fully agree with a review written in March. The hotel is beautiful and the grounds are stunning. Food in the restaurant good. Some staff is very helpful and friendly, some staff does not have a clue. Very mixed and not really the standard you want for such a high end hotel. Unfortunately, at the end of the stay, back... more

My review of Cliveden is a little biased for a few reasons, the main one being that my boyfriend proposed while we were there. However, the beautiful grounds and amazing setting aside, Cliveden needs a make-over! The Great Room is "great" and very atmospheric, but is showing big signs of wear and tear, as are the rest of the public... more

I know it must cost a lot to maintain such a stunning building but on spending such a lot of money to stay at Cliveden House one would expect a professional service. The building IS stunning, no doubt and history oozes from it. It would be so good if the staff could speak and understand English without having to repeat... more

We stayed in Cliveden for 3 days. To start off we were delighted. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. Food in the restaurant very good but dont recommend room service. Spa and pool had everything you wish for. Unfortunetally our lovely stay turned out to be very unpleasant when on leaving we found out I had our money stolen... more

Despite some of the other reviews on here we had a fantastic weekend here. Yes there are some issues with the accommodation in terms of maintenance but we found this part of the charm. If you want bling you may be better placed elsewhere but the staff were fantastic: charming and attentive. The spa is a little dated now but... more

I last stayed at Cliveden 10 years ago. It was an elegant, classic, great hotel, with character and class. My wife took me back there for a night away to celebrate my birthday and little has changed. Except that 10 years have passed and for little to change in that time means that it is now hopelessly outdated, feels old... more

Some people just dont appreciate being part of the very fabric of history I guess? If you want modern, run of the mill, usual standard nice, impressive but same-everywhere you go style generic rooms, then youll HATE cliveden, and from reading other peoples reviews i think thats probably what their problem was. Cliveden is exactly the same ( or some... more
