I stayed at the hotel as part of a business trip (the meeting was at the hotel). As a consequence, I didn't get much of a chance to look around the grounds as because due to the length of the meetings it was dark by the time we had finished. The checkin and greeting was effecient, I was offered tea... more

Cliveden is phenomenal, it's like being a king. I have yet to see (let alone, stay in) a more grandiose historic hotel. The rooms are huge and wonderfully decorated, the common areas are gloriously opulent, the park and grounds are divine, spectacular, regal, idyllic. Dinner in the main restaurant (the one with a view) was delicious. Service is perfect. This... more

I stayed at Cliveden at the end of November. We had booked the Lady Astor suite which is the top suite. When we arrived we had to wait over 1 hour before being able to get keys for the room. The room was breathtakingly amazing, but on closer inspection was very shabby and there were holes in furniture, peeling wallpaper... more

What can I say? well you wouldn’t know either if you had stayed in this unique luxury stately home; dedicated to the pursuit of pleasure, power and politics for over 300 years. It is absolutely breath taking. The rooms are so magnificent with the original decor - you feel like a lord and lady and the staff certainly make you... more

After staying at the Cliveden for a family wedding I must advise readers of this forum that this hotel is over-priced with no attention to detail and lacklustre service. I was fortunate in staying in the Vanderbilt suite, which is located on the ground floor of the West Wing. The view overlooks the entrance of the house and grand drive... more

I fully agree with a review written in March. The hotel is beautiful and the grounds are stunning. Food in the restaurant good. Some staff is very helpful and friendly, some staff does not have a clue. Very mixed and not really the standard you want for such a high end hotel. Unfortunately, at the end of the stay, back... more

We had always wanted to stay at Cliveden after walking round the grounds as National Trust members. When we did stay we were not disappointed. The service was excellent, but discreet, from the moment we drove up to the house until the moment we left. All staff were polite and helpful (but not fawning which can be off putting) and... more

My husband & I regularly treat ourselves to decadent nights away from the hussle & bussle of London -- Von Essen has yet to disappoint -- super room, un-surpassable dinner & unobtrusive, educated service. So good in fact, I had to join Tripadvisor & tell the world. more

My review of Cliveden is a little biased for a few reasons, the main one being that my boyfriend proposed while we were there. However, the beautiful grounds and amazing setting aside, Cliveden needs a make-over! The Great Room is "great" and very atmospheric, but is showing big signs of wear and tear, as are the rest of the public... more
