A few of us (8) stayed here whilst we were having a family party in nearby Doggetts Wood. The hotel is ideally placed for the centre of Amersham and Doggetts Wood, with the town centre being a 2 minute walk away. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the rooms were clean and tidy. The food was exceptional and... More

My four nights here gave me just what I wanted - a warm and friendly atmosphere, a simple but fully adequate room, pleasing dinner fare in the pub bar below from a menu with interesting variety, and a good English cooked breakfast. Don't expect a five-star hotel - this is a genuine inn in the modest style of early days,... More

The Saracen's Head is really good value if you are looking for accommodation in Old Amersham. Certainly not 'posh', but the courtyard rooms are a generous size and have everything you need. Breakfast is served in the bar and Kerry and staff look after their guests very well. On our last visit I commented that there was no hairdryer in... More

The room was just ok, not really to my standard of cleanliness but acceptable for an overnight stay. Room plug sockets are nowhere near the mirror. Small shower cubicle - which on my first use was cold water only! Informed the staff who quickly sorted it out. The next morning at breakfast I heard another couple complain about the same... More

We booked the Saracens Head through Expedia and so cannot comment on the booking procedure of the venue itself. Expedia was its usual efficient self. We read a number of reviews and the question of parking did put a slight doubt in our minds. An extremely easy place to find and we parked easily, no more than 100yds from the... More

We stayed here for a week in the old stable block which is full of atmosphere. Service was great, and we enjoyed breakfast, two dinners, and Sunday roast with friends. All the meals were delicious. The location was handy for buses right across the street connecting with the railway station for trips to London, etc. It was also great for... More

I was jet lagged and had just come from the Hospital. I walked into find a grinning barman! I take a stool at the bar and the barman approaches with the words "this one has been poured the most these 2 are our regular ales and you'll be having this one" I looked at him like the arrogant sod I... Enjoyed stay here even though room opened straight out onto street (was a bit noisy from the boy racers). But the staff and atmosphere in the pub was great and the food wasn't bad and the beer was good. The other problem was parking which was on the street and very limited. I am disabled and this was a concern... More

We booked very late and the accommodated us, I think we were lucky as they just had a cancellation, We were squashed in a little but it is a small traditional Inn with not much room. For Mothers Day they had a set menu which included all the traditional Sunday roasts! The portions were massive and there were seven ot... More

While traveling on business, I stayed at Saracen's Head for 2 weeks and felt so incredibly comfortable and welcome that I'll be sure to stay again should the occasion arise. Old world charm abounds, and the food was delicious! I had many options during my stay, but wound up having dinner in the pub most nights. The owner and staff... More
