The staff were grumpy, rude and seem to have no idea about customer service; the breakfast was cold and inedible; there was no night manager to deal with the extremely drunk young woman who was sprawled across the stairs swearing incoherently outside our room at midnight; there was a small gathering of people smoking and chatting outside our bedroom window... more

Awful. Our wedding night - and about 5 other couples booked to stay. We had the suite. Souless - bath in room. Funny, almost office like, furniture. No minibar (just even for water), no information. Next day - completely incapable of delivering a decent breakfast to the room. Two trips - and still only 3/4 of a breakfast, no knives,... more

I've stayed at this place two or three times in the past year (on business) and I like it. OK, there is no restaurant, but just a short stroll down the very attractive street are a couple of excellent places to eat - I recommend the littel Indian place just around the corner. The hotel rooms are well appointed and... more

This is the 2nd time we have visited the hotel, and this time came back for a birthday treat, as it was so great on our last visit. Once again we had a fab time. The staff were friendly and even remembered us from before so we got a room upgrade. All the log fires were lite in the bar... more

We went for the May bank holiday weekend - it looked gorgeous on the website and although the room was pretty tiny it had been nicely refurbished. We were above the pub - which is a risk you take with staying in an old Inn, but it was very noisy until about 1 in the morning - lots of street... more

Nice room, but very small and only one tiny window with no view. In a characterless annexe - maybe the rooms in the old building are better. Bathroom well fitted but step back from the sink and you were in the toilet. Great for one person for one night but could be claustrophobic for two people and/or nights. Just one... more

I had a very pleasant and comfortable stay in this hotel while on business - I was allocated a newer double room outwith the main building which had recently been refurbished to a very high, modern and attractive standard. The room and bath/shower room were immaculately maintained and all the basics were provided i.e. internet access, telephone, hair dryer, iron... more

We have just returned from a one night stay at his hotel we booked a luxury suite with four poster bed and jacuzzi bath. After reading a review on this hotel we were worried that it would be a dissapointment, but thankfully this was not the case. The hotel is very nicely refurbished to a very high standard and we... more

I stayed here for one night during a business trip, hoping that this beautiful building would give me some respite from a hard day in meetings. The staff are rude and unpleasant. The interior is tatty and cheap along with the decor. The fabrics used are cheap and nasty and the interior walls bland. My room was dirty and the... more
