We visited the Kings Arms for dinner a couple of weeks ago and had the loveliest time. The service was faultless, food was delicate and delightful (Baked Alaska is a must try!!) and the atmosphere was good - the restaurant seemed to be full but it wasn't noisy and it generally had a relaxed vibe. All in all a lovely... More

We stayed in the suite with the four poster bed on our wedding night and were really impressed. The suite was really comfortable - the decor is slightly dated but that really didn't matter for one night! The reception staff were really lovely - from when I dropped off our bag on the morning of the wedding to when we... More

This is a review of the restaurant where my wife and I had a special occasion meal on Saturday March 1st 2014. We were not residents. The Kings Arms needs to remind itself the meaning of the the word 'discretionary' as it applies to their service charge. My Oxford dictionary tells me; 'liberty of deciding as one sees fit'. Their... Thank you for reviewing us - though it is disappointing to read. Service charge is an emotive issue - but it is still discretionary. Please let me know if you had asked for it to be taken off - as staff are clearly instructed to do so if asked. We thought long about whether to introduce it. I take your... More

From my initial email enquiry to after check out, everything about the Kings Arms was spot on. Relaxed but incredible friendly service suited us. Loved sitting by the fire reading the papers. Room (in old part of Hotel) was just as we imagined and more. Fold out bed for 17 year old reported as comfortable as was our bed. Breakfast... More

Because of the weather I had to drive down from Wales rather than take the train as I had planned. The staff were fantastic, the room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. I was given a late checkout which was after the wake and I was able to park my car there while I traveled on to London for two... More

We stayed here when attending a family funeral. Positives were extremely pleasant staff, and a comfortable room at the front of the Hotel,at a very competitive price. The bathroom left much to be desired, with a weak shower,a tiny washbowl and a non-functioning extractor fan. Breakfast was not very good, with a poor selection of food, and amateurish service. What redeemed the Hotel in our... More

Beautiful location, delicious dinner (a little pricey but worth it) and a lovely hotel (also a little pricey but I would say worth it), let down somewhat by staff and Breakfast. The receptionist although capable was lacking warmth and when we asked for ideas on what to do in the area the only feedback was that there was nothing and... More

Thank you for your comments. I will address the breakfast issue as clearly this is the final impression we give of the hotel and very important. I will also remind reception what a lovely high street we are on. We appreciate the feedback. More

For such a small place Old Amersham seems to have an abundance of hotels to stay in. It is a shame non of them is a stand out leader. Old Amersham is a beautiful town with lots of character. The Kings Arms certainly looks the part from the high street. Reception: Cold/uninviting but service was friendly. Room: I booked for... More

I am sorry to read of you disappointment. we clearly need to address some breakfast issues. We have had very good reviews of our restaurant, so I am disturbed that you found it soulless. Thanks for taking the time to give us feedback, painful as it is. More

We stayed for 2 nights in the old part of the hotel. Our room was warm, quiet and with a great sense of history. It was a pleasure to be in it. After a minor initial hiccup the breakfasts were superbly cooked. Possibly the best-cooked full English I have had in a hotel. Also a great range of breakfast cold... More
