After having Christmas Dinner at home for many years we thought we'd try one away from home. My wife and I have dined at the hotel before and enjoyed the atmosphere, cosiness and the great food on offer. On this occasion our son and mother in law dined with us and once again we were not disappointed. The table layout... More

Wonderful party with excellent food and plenty of staff to ensure we were served quickly at the bar. The bedroom was stunning and full of antiques. The breakfast was really good too. The doors creaked a little but that just added to the charachter

I hadn't been to the OPL for 25 years, it always had a good reputation but for some reason we hadn't been back, so when deciding on a venue for a family Sunday lunch gathering we decided to give it a wirle. We were not disappointed, the decor is a little tired in places but I think that actually adds... More

Had a nice birthday lunch for my mothers 82nd birthday. Food was tasty, service good but since we were the only people there it was lacking in atmosphere. The piped music was not helping and the dining room was cold. Staff very friendly and helpful particularly to my mother who needed a ramp fixing on the stairs. Thanks guys

Lovely looking hotel. Staff friendly and helpful but the facilities are very lacking. Room although it was the Executive room was adequate and the bed was big but it was made up on a box. The shower was old and not plumbed in correctly as it consistently went from hot to cold. shower was also full of scale. Breakfast was... More

Heavily extended old hotel, plenty of character in the old part, lovely bar and lounge areas, but as above " a little tired", room basic but adequate, reasonably priced, close to town centre, a good base for visiting the area.

A one night business stop in The Old Palace. The room was clean & comfortable although a bit 'brown' but with, for once, a shower that went up far enough so I didn't need to kneel to shower. Free & quick WiFi as well. Major chains take note, too many charge exorbitant charges for poor service. here they proved it... More

Reception staff were great at check in - which was quick, friendly and simple, as we were attending a masonic meeting at 5 o'clock, we had telephoned the day beforehand, asking if it was possible to "book-in" early. It was a welcome relief after a 700 mile drive from the North of Scotland. We went through to the Lounge Bar and... More

Have been looking at some of the reviews on here and find them a bit strange. I stay here every time I visit Dunstable due to location of head office and I can safely say I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Lets get the negative out the way first.....depending on the room you get the water pressure for the shower can... More
