There's this magical spot, right when you drive into Casa Carolina and you know, you just know--or at least I did!--that you have found paradise. And the thing is, it's just the driveway! The confluence of the bright blue sky, the blue-green water, the white sand, the cheery yellow buildings and the perfect, perfect breeze right in that spot--I didn't... More

Had a great time taking out the sea kayaks to paddle around and snorkeling--it's especially great they have a private dock, so we could just walk off the dock to swim and snorkel. (Though I spent most of my time reading in the hammock and just relaxing.) Caroline and Bob are friendly, laid-back Americans and are extremely knowledgeable about the... More

We just finished our seventh visit with Bob and Caroline and we are already planning our eighth. we go every year in order to unwind and relax with little stimulation. My husband loves to fish. I like to read, take bike rides on the jungle road, visit with locals, swim in the ocean (where most of the time I am... More

One of our most favorite places on this planet,,, been there 6 times now,,,, Carol and Bob are the perfect hosts,,,, they will arrange guides,,,, tours,,, Leaky Palapa reservations,,,buy groceries for you,,, and greet you everyday with muffins, eggs fruit and coffee,,,It's quiet, laid back and has great fly fishing. Doesn't get any better than that!!!!

The kitchen wasn’t the reason we chose to stay at Casa Carolina. In fact, it wasn’t even a consideration. I was not planning to cook on our vacation. We chose Casa Carolina because of the location, the private dock, that it only has four rooms, and because it looked so beautiful in the pictures. The location is ideal, and Casa... More

We spent 3 nights at Casa Carolina this spring in March. The place was full but you would barely know it because everyone was super quiet and seemed to be on a different schedules. So when we enjoyed the beach out front everyone else was fishing or diving. Made for a very relaxing vacation as we felt like we had... More

First of all, the owners of Casa Carolina are wonderful and really try to make sure you're experience is a good one. They helped arrange boat and snorkel tours for our group and Bob personally fits you for your snorkel equipment. The hotel rooms are beautiful, nice soft clean sheets and nicely decorated. It's a bit of an adventure getting... More

My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed 9 gloriously peaceful and adventurous days in Xcalak at Casa Carolina. Even though we live in Maui and appreciate what beauty surrounds us at home, we were charmed by the slow pace and peacefulness that we found in Xcalak. Having done my homework online before choosing a hotel and feeling confident that I had... More

The last time I reviewed Casa Carolina was in 2005...I thought it was fantastic then, and after this trip, I still think so. So many places revisited just don't live up to their past, but Casa Carolina and Bob and Caroline, and dog Tootsie, are as wonderful as ever. The property is well maintained, the rooms are still well appointed,... More

We discovered Xcalak 10 years ago and always look forward to the next stay with Bob and Caroline. Always feels as if we're visiting old friends. Being from Alaska, we relish the peace, quiet and remote beauty of the area, in addition to the great fly-fishing. Also highly recommend at least one meal at The Leaky Palapa.
