Valladolid and Casa Hamaca is where we chose to start our two week Maya tour in mid-November. It was an excellent choice. We stayed just 2 nights but it was a great way to get oriented to the Yucatán. The house is warm, inviting and beautiful. It is an artistically and organically integrated whole environment. (Yes, that sounds a bit... More

Our family of eight, with children ranging in age from 3 to 21, spent three nights at Casa Hamaca and six in Akumal. We wish we had done it the other way around. When we arrived, we received a warm welcome from Dennis and his staff. The staff was very friendly and enormously helpful. One of our goals in traveling... More

We stayed in Casa Hamaca in Valladolid for two days in the beginning of October. Naturally this is off season so we had the place for our selves. It is a beautiful hidden gem in the colonial city of Valladolid. The house is beutifully hidden behind the front garden and parking. The rooms and the house in it self has... More

I came across Casa Hamaca by chance when trying to find a cookery class in the Yucatán peninsula for our family of six, with four children ranging between the ages of seven and fourteen. I e-mailed Denis to see if he could cater for us and he went out of his way to accommodate our request, despite the fact that... More

I can't write a good enough review for Casa Hamaca; I enjoyed an extended stay there and the staff went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. I think it's a plus that an American citizen/Mexican resident lives there; anyone who is nervous about the challenges of visiting a foreign country (water/food/bathroom differences) should visit here first; they... We decided upon Valladolid as a base to visit Tulum and Chitzen Itza as well as nearby cenotes. We arrived with no difficulty after excellent directions from Denis via email. Both he and his staff were incredibly warm and gracious hosts. Our room was lovely, with petal "drawings" on the floor (a heart with an arrow through it for my... More

This place is truly a unique gem in the Yucatan. The owner, Denis, is a wonderful and gracious host. He gave us great information about the area and took us to breakfast at the Sunday farmers' market. We were treated like guests in his home. This place is beautiful. It is so comfortable and clean with fluffy towels, soft beds,... More

Rooms are very nice and clean. Everything is well maintained and well managed. Airco as well as ventilators were available and working fine. The house is very comfortable and well protected from mosquitos. The owner Denis is very helpfull and kind. This hotel doesn't disappoint you and gives you an excellent access to ChitzenItza, Valladoid, Cenotes, many hotspots. Breakfast is... More

Casa Hamaca is impeccably clean and lovely. Fabulous food and presentation. Denis is a wonderfully attentive host and connected us to the community in several ways. Also great massage class. The whole thing an absolute knockout.
