We flew into Cancun and drove directly to Valladolid and Casa Hamaca on Dec. 22, 2015. We were greeted by Carina, who was very helpful in showing us around and our room. Her English is excellent and she was lovely. The room was very comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was delicious. We'd love to come back!

We love this little hotel. It is centrally located for us. The rooms are clean and spacious and very comfortable after a day of exploring. The owner Denis knows of everything this area has to offer and takes the time to impart his wisdom, it was very much appreciated. Not to be forgotten are his staff, they are all terrific.... More

Excellent place to stay in Valladolid. Very pretty rooms, great location with walking distance to all parts of the city (town square, shops, the main market, Zaci Cenote, restaurants). The owner is available and happy to help with suggestions and information about the city, the ruins, culture, etc. Staff friendly and courteous. Breakfast comes with the stay and is excellent... We arrived in Valladolid without a reservation and were blessed to find a room here. It is more of a small hotel, than a B&B, but then I've always had trouble figuring out the difference on TripAdvisor. The room was large! The king-sized bed felt enormous after a few other places we had stayed. The bathroom was big as well.... More

What a fantastic visit! We found this place on recommendation from friends. It began with a purpose behind it, but we found it to be so much more! The experience we had felt local, personal, cultural, and engaging. We were able to have a unique experience as artists in residence, giving us an inside understanding of a really special place!... We decided to stay at Valladolid just coz we were doing a Mayan ruins tour in Yucatan. Valladolid is very close to Chichen Itza and Ek Balam. And other ruins too but then we wanted to live closer to Uxmal and Tulum. We visited Coba which is again very close Valladolid. When we got there we were totally surprised to... More

This is a wonderful place to stay. It really is an oasis in town, there are wonderful things to see throughout the building and grounds. We stayed a night here after a weekend in a fancy Cancun resort, and this place was a welcomed change from that. Organized more like a B&B or small inn than a hotel, there is... More

Four blocks from Valladolid's main square, Casa Hamaca sits off a small park; it's right in the middle of a block, sheltered by a little jungle through which you walk to the entrance. There are hotels right on the city's main square that offer a little more convenience, but we appreciated being able to get away from the crowds and... More

Casa Hamaca is one of those rare places that's good for the soul. When we walked through the beautiful garden I felt we stepped back in time and I could almost hear the revolutionaries planning around the table, and felt surrounded by the history of this great colonial town. I was really surprised to discover that the guesthouse is one... More

Karen, thanks for your great review. You clearly expressed what we are all about. We want our guests to have more than just a place to sleep. We want them to learn and discover and experience. There's a lot more in and around Valladolid than just the Mayan ruins and the cenotes. Last week, for instance, we took a guest... More

We spent two relaxing days here. After the crowds and madness of Akumal, this guesthouse was a most welcome break. The setting is perfect; surrounded by trees and gardens but only a short walk to the zocalo and other attractions of the city. The staff were all pleasant and helpful, and Denis was a great source of information about the... More

Almost everyone (locals as well as visitors) describe Valladolid as "tranquilo". The city is always filled with smiles and laughter. I am happy you enjoyed your stay with us. You are very on target with your comment about Valladolid being close to a number of attractions on the peninsula. Three different states can all visited as day trips from Valladolid.... More
