We had no idea what we were getting into when I found the place on the internet, but decided we could stand a two day adventure. Within an hour of arriving, we were sorry we couldn't stay more than the two planned nights. The views from the individual bungalows are fabulous, whether from the palapa covered front deck or the... more

Lonely planet is out to lunch (not to mention out of date) on Mahahual. The center of town has been rebuilt since the hurricane and there is plenty of raw entrepeneurial energy in the air, as well as plenty of visitors when the cruise ships pull in. Drive south towards Xcalak along a beautiful quiet and practically deserted coastal road,... more

Maya Luna had already been recommended by friends, but it surpassed my expectations. Simple but comfortable, spacy and private cabanas with a roof top terrace and directly located on the beach; excellent food prepared by Chief Pedro or owner Jan and served by Caroline or Philippe, Caroline always there for assistance and advice, and last but not least the inhouse... more

I stayed for 6 days and I made 4 wonderfull guided scubadives practically just in front of my hotel! Barracuda's, eaglerays, turtles made my day! So did the friendly owners of the hotel: great food (a daily choice of fresh fish!) and service! And I can really recommend Maya Luna to solo female travellers, I felt perfectly safe like visiting... more

I spent 3 days with my girlfriend at Hotel Maya Luna and we both enjoyed it very much. Carolien and Jan have a great spot of paradise in Mexico. Nice bungalows/rooms and great food made our stay complete. Btw, when you go there, please gif Dunja and the cats a hug from us ;) more

The owners Jan and Caroline and their staff make you feel at home. The diving school just opened and it was a great experience to go for mij first discovery scupa dive with Jolanda. Me and my 10-year old daughter stayed at Mayaluna for one week and had the best time! The owners Jan and Caroline and their staff made us feel welcome from the first moment and made our stay one wonderfull experience. The cabanas are right there on the beach, just a foodstep away for the blue sea. The reef (the second... more

My wife and I are architectural aficionados, so we especially enjoyed the extraordinarily pleasing design of our room at Hotel Maya Luna. We especially enjoyed the second floor balcony with the natural fiber sun cover umbrella. The fantastic food was an extra blessing. So upon arriving, there was no need for further driving anywhere - just "pedestrian" enjoyment of the... more

We stayed at the Maya Luna for 3 days in March and had the best time ever. We arrived after a long journey only to be welcomed by the great owners Jan and Caroline and their staff French and Pedro. We were very hungry and Pedro prepared us this fantastic stuffed pineapple dish that was unbelievably good....highly recommend it!! Also... more
