My wife and I recently spent 2 nights at Villas Bakalar. Booked our room directly with Fernando. Suites are big, airy, clean and have brand new appliances. We took a weekend away and chanced upon Bakalar Villas. There are a number of tatty-looking hotels that haven't evolved since the 1960's, and then there's Bakalar Villas. Rather than being on the water, it's on the opposite side of the street with stunning views of Laguna Bacalar. The hotel is very new and many rooms are still under construction.... more

We stayed at Villas Bakalar for 2 nights in March, what a find !!!! This is a newer complex just completed 1 yr ago and everything is new and squeaky clean.
