The Grand Palladium Colonial Resort & Spa boasts a range of amenities, including multiple pools and diverse entertainment, which guests have called out for praise. Nestled in a location that marries convenience with natural splendor, the resort offers a vibrant atmosphere with spirited entertainment. Despite this, some travelers have noted the need for room updates and more consistent housekeeping. Service experiences vary, with commendations for staff friendliness contrasted by reports of slow responses and occasional staffing issues. We are PCT members and love RM White Sands/Colonial but will try to convince everyone NOT to become members. The resort is fantastic, food is excellent, pools and pool service great. But PCT (a separate identity) leaves a lot to be desired. So if vacationing there, refuse any attempts to waste your time to buy membership,

Hotel's Favorite
This was our first trip back after Covid and we worried things would have changed. However, the hotel is still very special and the staff work so hard to make everything perfect. There are lots of new staff who are working their socks off to get trained up. It was very hot for our stay (June 24 to July 8) it was pretty much 32 degrees everyday. Our room - we stayed in a Romance Villa Room 3003 which was really close to the main pool and the beach. The room is lovely and spacious, with an outside shower as well and indoor one. The pools are well maintained, the secret pools are our personal favourites. The beach is lovely, there has been a lot of comments about the seaweed, however there is a small barrier in the sea now that reduces the amount, and staff clear it daily so it is very minimal. It is an issue along the whole coast, and each hotel does its best. It is as people say ‘mother nature’. The pools seem busier this time, but beds are plentiful. The pool side waitresses work so hard bringing us drinks (make sure you tip them for their hard work!) they even find you when your in the pool for a dip and drop off your drinks! What service!! The Food is great too, there is always something to cater for all tastes in the buffet restaurant’s. The a la carte’s are also worth trying. Our favourites this time were the Thai - Chang Thai and Sumptuori for the Japanese Cooking Show. (The only a la cartes that require booking are the Japanese and the Fish Restaurant - Poseidon. There is sometimes a wait for a table, but staff work to get you in quickly so after a couple of drinks at the bar you are usually called through. Buffets at breakfast, our favourite was La Hacienda (it gets really busy around 10am) so earlier the better of you don’t want to wait. But again the food was lovely. The sports bar is nice and cool with its air con, and the place for 24/7 food, the Jalapeños and Chicken Wings are A good snack! Note the The snack bar on the beach Las Olas is no longer 24/7 for food. We had room service one evening which there is now a $15 tray charge (which if fair I think, as takes time and staff to deliver it) The Wildlife here is great, Coatis and Racoons as well as lots of Iguanas. And there is a Monkey around we are yet to see this time! When we came this time it was Mosquito season, so bring some repellant. It is again nature, and staff also suffer so don’t go blaming the staff! Water Sports I scuba and would highly recommend Aqua Excursions based by the beach are great! I did some local dives and we saw a pod of about 15 Dolphins off shore at the front of the hotel! We also went to Cozumel for Dive and Snorkel (can snorkel if don’t dive). First dive saw my first Shark! It was amazing! We also swam with Whale Sharks and that really was an amazing trip!! There are always a variety of reviews on trip advisor and it’s sometimes difficult to judge what are genuine grips or just general moaners. We have noticed a slight change to the hotel since pre-covid, but that is only to be expected. Some long time staff have gone, and as I say they are getting their staffing numbers back up post pandemic. Every member of staff from checking, concierge, room cleaners, maintenance staff, bar staff and everyone else in between are so pleasant, helpful and friendly. I think the guests themselves sometimes Forget what everyone has been through and sometimes less forgiving than they should be for things that really don’t matter! I for one have nothing but praise for everyone we have had any contact with. And we can’t wait to be back in April 2023!

Beautiful place, delicious food, helpful staff but bad management. Older rooms, so they smelled mouldy - we got a dehumidifier for our room which helped. Beautiful beach and pool, great kid’s splash pad and kids zone. Go to the CHIC show - it was awesome. One family member’s room was not cleaned before they arrived, unfortunately, and had dirty sheets on the bed; they then requested clean sheets, which were put in the room but the bed was remade with dirty sheets. Odd. I’d also recommend unplugging the phone since they tried calling us late in the evening on our travel day arriving at the resort. Overall, would recommend - but ask for a dehumidifier in your room - and tip your maid / tip everyone.

Most fun vacation we have ever had. Everything is top notch. The pools are beautiful, the beach is amazing, staff is friendly, food was great. And the entertainment was incredible. I came with my wife, 18 year old daughter, and her 18 year old friend and there was something for all of us. Exercise classes on the beach, bartending classes, tequila tasting, amazing shows and dance parties every night. The white party and fire show are not to be missed. We danced into the night every night. We were never bored. Our room was also very comfortable, quiet and had a private balcony. We hope to come back next year.

We had a very good week at The Grand Palladium Colonial. Our room was quite comfortable, but lacking in plugs. So, if you think of it, pack a power bar if you have items to plug in/charge. The food at the a la carte restaurants was quite good, other than the Thai (my least favourite, but hubby loved his Pad Thai) . We especially enjoyed the Brazilian restaurant and ate there two times. We were successful in getting reservations where we wanted, except for the Japanese, which was booked the whole week. The open air buffet was a relaxing place in the mornings and at lunch, although sometimes difficult for the first cup of coffee - and refills. Evening entertainment was great - something for everyone's taste. The sports bar was my husband`s favourite. He is a hockey fan, and was able to ask for a couple of the games for the smaller screen tv`s. The food is really goo there too! We enjoyed the adult only pool, but also enjoyed the music around the big main pool. We walked, rather than take the trolly wherever we went. There were so many little kids and babies the week we were there (January 11), but my friend went to the same resort in December and said it was not the case. There is a kids waterpark and activities for them.

Our vacation at GP Colonial far exceeded our expectations. This hotel offers something for everyone - fun and games for the young people, and a paradise of relaxation for us seniors. The food was very good, with many choices of restaurants, of which there are many, including their enormous buffets. There are bars all over the place - and we didn't get close to trying them all because there was always one always within a short walk no matter where we were on the expansive property. In fact we didn't even get around to seeing the entire resort during our stay. We want to go back again next year for more exploration. The sports bar is a nice touch. Pub food and drinks served 24/7. We also enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of Churchill's bar when it was open (closed some nights). The pools were the cleanest of any we've used at any resort (and we've been to many). And we enjoyed the fact that there were a couple that were deep enough to actually swim, rather than just 4 feet to wade around in. The beach is gorgeous. We had no trouble finding shaded lounge chairs despite it being high season. The staff were all very friendly and the service was great. At the adult pool, there was often poolside service when the bartender wasn't busy serving at the bar. The grounds are lovely, lush, and well-kept. Walking was enjoyable but there's a very handy and frequent shuttle service too. Lots of wildlife to see. Our room was in the Colonial section, which is central to everything on the property. The only thing some people might not like is the age of the rooms there. They're clean and comfortable but they're showing their age. Apparently these buildings are slated for renovations this year. We were quite happy with ours except for the lack of enough lighting. They need to make them bright enough, especially in the bathroom, so you can see what you're doing. Don't even think about doing makeup in that mirror. However, there was daily housekeeping, and the room bar was kept stocked with water, pop, and beer, and snacks of chips, nuts, and chocolate. There is so much detail I could go into with my praise for this amazing hotel, if I had the time to write more. All in all, I would recommend it as a mid-priced 4.5 star resort - I think the best we've been to. We're definitely going back!

In general, services are very good; special thanks to the Sushi bar chef at Hacienda. The Air Canada rep is very helpful to help me locate my Air Transat rep. However, the front desk staff should be more updated about restaurants status. We were sent to the Buffet Restaurant at Kantena for lunch but that restaurant was actually closed for some reason.
