This is a special place. We first visited Hotel Akumal Caribe 20 years ago. We have made many, many trips since and find it as beautiful as ever. The people are warm and friendly and for us, Happy Hour lasts all day long. If you are looking for all-inclusive with trough style buffets and loud mariachi bands...Keep looking. This hotel... More

We had rented a condo for 8 nights just north of Playa del Carmen. It was spectacular, everything you would need - but it was too far from the beach. We drove to Akumal, walked into the lobby at the Hotel Akumal Caribe, and fortunately they had a bungalow available. We took a wash on the condo and absolutely LOVED... More

If you want a big glitzy all inclusive resort, then don't come to Akumal. But if you want a quieter more laid back experience, in a small friendly resort, then this is the place to come. We have been staying at the Hotel Akumal Caribe for 10 years and just love it. There is a 3 story hotel, as well... More

My wife and I, along with two friends returned home early this week after an eight night stay at the Akumal Caribe. Our first impression was thst it might be too laid back for us, who have stsyed at exclusive and all inclusive resorts. We grew into its easy going vibe within 24 hours and we look to return. The... Husband and I stayed at Hotel Akumal Caribe for two nights in Feb. 2015. We were headed to Isla Mujeres but wanted to re-visit Akumal one more time since we had not been back there in about 6 years. This was our first time staying at this property and we booked the top corner room #416. Upon checking in the... More

I've been staying here for 7 years now, and I last reviewed it in 2013. Each year, as soon as I return home I book for next year. The hotel is still a lovely, friendly, clean and simple place to enjoy this magical bay and the wide diversity of people who visit. There are many languages spoken here, and first... More

Don't let others fool you.. like many Caribbean destinations, most are over crowded during peak season. Although the hotel is located next to a public beach, the beach for the hotel is very private, and the beach staff are very accommodating. My fiance and I visited in February of 2015 and couldn't have had a better time. From the dive... More

We just got back from a week's stay at this hotel. Condo #1 ground floor. Their online photos do not do it justice. The patio is huge. Half is covered with dining table and additional seating. Other half is open with lounge chairs and plenty of room to sprawl out. Steps down to 10 ft deep beach and then the... More

This was the most peaceful stay! The rooms are comfortable and clean, the view is breathtaking, and the breakfasts, food, and drinks were great! And did I mention snorkeling is amazing right off the beach there!!

Hotel location is great. It is right on the beach. So, you can go snorkeling for giant turtles bare feet. There is a nice sea food restaurant nearby within minutes of walking. However, the rooms are overpriced. Never book your airport taxi through this hotel. They turned up one hour late. We were stranded not knowing what to do. Nobody... More
