The hotel room was pleasant and close to the beach. Offered biodegradable soap and as Akumal has no treatment works this was a nice touch. The manager told us we could see turtles laying eggs on the beach and you can but.... only use red light (turtles find it harder to see the red end of the spectrum) and turn... More

Great location, staff, room and view. Private beach with the best snorkeling areas. The supermarket is very close, so the kitchen allowed us to cook dinner every night! We ordered the front beach room (costs only $23 more) which is almost as double as a standard bungalow, with a kitchen, privacy and great view to the pool and the beach.... More

Staff were very warm, kind and competent. Everything in the bright, spacious room was in excellent working order. The bed was very comfortable and the balcony lovely. The view and proximity to glorious snorkeling was terrific. The only thing I would ask for is a comfortable chair inside the room.

I stayed in one of the Bungalows not the beach front hotel. It was a clean, spacious room, much as shown in the website photos. It was quiet, in a garden setting, and only a minute's walk to the hotel pool and beach. Not fancy but very comfortable with a large refrigerator and good AC. The hotel staff was great...friendly... The room: pretty basic, but clean. There was a loud clanging noise that went on all night, not sure what it was, but super annoying. No TV, but pretty good wireless internet service. The staff was okay, could have been a bit more outgoing. The exception was George, who was a very friendly, helpful, and had great recommendations for us... More

Great location. Great service. Great people, eager to help. Word of advice, if your husband is like mine he enjoys his TV before bed and access to the internet. You will not find either at this hotel. No TV, No WiFi, No Internet, and bring your own hair-dryer! All else was great.

Hotel Akumal Caribe - May 2-9 2015 Pros: Very good location with many attractions nearby, just rent a car; Close to the beach; Good service; Excellent "Lol Ha" restaurant and bar; Farmer market on Wednesday; Grocery stores within the walking distance. Cons: Crowded beach, many motor boats, a lot of seaweeds on the beach and in the water. We stayed... More

Just got home from a wonderful 3 night stay at Hotel Akumal Caribe. Wish we would have stayed longer but we were in Playa del Carmen for 4 days and then visited Akumal for 3 days. What a sweet little hotel that's located right on Akumal Bay. We enjoyed swimming with the turtles right off the beach, eating breakfast every... More

We chose Hotel Caribe to get away from the big resorts and were not disappointed. It is a modest place for sure, but we loved our two week stay. It's best to book a room in the 3-story hotel: the bungalos are a bit shabby. The nice pool was rarely used during our stay. The beach was wonderful, but the... More
