Finally after 20 years a dream came true - I got to Patzcuaro. One of the highlights was staying at the beautiful Hotel Casa del Refugio. The rooms, and entire hotel were spotless and beautifully decorated with Mexican art. The staff was very friendly and helpful - and lots of fun! While breakfast in the dining room was a bit... More

We booked this hotel on-line on their own website. They took credit card information, but did not put any charges through until after we arrived. We liked our rooms but the one thing I would recommend was that you get a room off the street. I think they give you those rooms because they have balconies, but when the trucks... More

I never actually stayed here. I booked in mid-November and my credit card was immediately charged for 2 nights. I then cancelled, well within the time I was allowed to cancel without a charge. On Dec 6 I went to the hotel in Patzcuaro and was promised that the refund would be processed that weekend. It was not. In early... More

Right on main square but not too noisy, espec at night. Rooms only "light" if get one facing street. Rooms FREEZING! We eventually got lent a heater that helped but had to leave it on all the time. Warm beds, but old, faded and stained pillowcases and pillows and bed cover. Good blankets. Breakfast ok, you get choice of eggs,... More

Hotel right on one of the main squares, shopping all over. Staff and bellman were great, bellman found us a parking spot in front of hotel. Don't forget to visit Tzintzuntzan, and explore the many ruins nearby. Very pretty countryside, about 5 hours from Zihuatenejo and Acapulco. Will go back, definitely.

We were in Ixtapa for 2 months and went to Patzcuaro for 3 days about the 20th of February 2013. The hotel was hard to find as very little signage but it was really worth the search. Its on the small square where the local people congregate. Went through the main door and "WOW", a restored 17th century structure, with... More

This lovely hotel is located on the Plaza Chica in Patzcuaro Centro. Lovely, quiet rooms decorated with interesting artwork around two central courtyards. One courtyard has a huge stone fireplace with seating around it and the other is the the dining area. By the way breakfast is included and includes juice, fruit, coffee and your choice of eggs or pancakes.... More

Having read other reviews of the hotel I was a bit leery. From the street it doesn't look like much being sandwiched between two stores. Once inside it is charming and rustic. Our group of 15 occupied rooms on two floors overlooking the central bar area. There is an amazing fireplace, although it was not lit during our 3 night... More

Have been familiar with this property since it opened several year ago, though this was our first stay. Unfortunately, ownership seems to have no plans to keep it updated. As other reviewers pointed out, there are lots of problems with the property. We had 2 rooms, & after 2 days we checked out & went elsewhere --- as did at... More

I like this hotel overall. The rooms are nice and the service is good. However, the second time we stayed there, there was a smell coming from the bathroom. Since the doors to it were very close to the bed, we asked the manager to switch our rooms. We got an upgraded one for the same price, but it was... More
