Lovely location, beside some great unspoiled beaches in PEI. The hotel was once the home of an American industrialist and has tons of character. We met the manager who was more than helpful and the rest of the staff were very friendly and professional. We had a great breakfast in the hotel dinning room and dinner too, both meals were... More

Driving up to Dalvay by the Sea, which is situated inside Prince Edward Island National Park, [ stop at toll booth to buy Park Pass] is like going back in time. No fast food joints or tacky signage, just the unspoiled beauty of PEI and a grand old estate sitting on a large pond with the ocean just down the... More

I would recommend staying two days at the least, but more if you can. Beautiful historic building. Rooms are very quaint and spacious, again maintaining the history of the building. No tvs in rooms, but very appropriate and fitting for its proximity to the beach and amenities offered. Lots of amenities and activities on the grounds with a large pond... More

This is a beautiful property ... gorgeous and well-maintained. The setting is peaceful. Somewhat isolated, which can either be good or not-so-good depending on what you are seeking. The beach is just across the street, so that is super convenient. There is also kayaking available on the property which was a great activity (no additional charge). The room we stayed... More

My wife and I picked Dalvay by the Sea to stay for our honeymoon in July 2014 as it looked beautiful from the pictures and we also liked the fact that we would be staying in the famous 'White Sands Hotel". We ultimately came to regret our decision due to the heat and the bugs. We were a bit worried... More

Great location. Charming with its antique furnishings. There is bike rental on the property, which is very convenient. Because there is a great bike path for about 12km out. But be warned, there is No room service, TV, spacious showers or counter top space in the washroom.

This was my third visit to the Dalvay which I last reviewed in 2007. My companion and I had a small room with a fantastic view over Dalvay Lake and the sea on the second floor, with a comfortable bed, clawfoot tub and shower and good cross-ventilation so the absence of AC was not notable. The staff was gracious if... More

We have been to this lovely, quaint resort several times for their famous Dalvay Pudding dessert and love it. On our last trip, we had time to stay for lunch and it was well worth it. The lodge is an elegant, restored Queen Anne Revival home and a National Historic site in Canada. Dining seating is in a large room,... More

After accidentally learning the Stanhope where we had reservations on the north shore of PEI had burnt to the ground, we were able to arrange accommodations at the Dalvay. Absolutely a perfect stay for that first week of August 2013. Talk about luck. The lodging and the food was outstanding as was the staff. The restaurant manager even provided the... More

This was a very special place to stay in a wonderful location. The accommodation is marvelous with lovely log fires. The ambience of the building is fantastic provided by the lovely warm wood used in the construction. The food and wine were excellent and we were looked after like royalty. A special thank you to Jenna Shinn who really made... More

Dalvay-By-The-Sea, a National Historic Site of Canada, is an elegant Queen Anne Revival home built in 1895 by a Scottish-American oil tycoon. A summer resort hotel since the 1930's, Dalvay By-The-Sea is located at the east end of Prince Edward Island's National Park on scenic Dalvay Beach. There are 25 guest rooms; all are largely furnished in period antiques and all rooms offer a four-piece private bath. Each of our rooms is singular and unique. In addition, there are eight three-bedroom cottages located adjacent to the inn, offering vistas of the ocean, Dalvay Lake and acres of manicured grounds.
