There is a reason Shaw's Hotel survives as the oldest family-run hotel in Canada - they know how to treat visitors. It was obvious that many of the families staying in cottages return every year. We stayed in the hotel itself. Our room was very comfortable, and we experienced none of the plumbing problems anyone mentioned. The TV in our... More

As we drove up to this old Victorian home, we were in awe of the scenery. The staff are pleasant and the grounds are charming. The rooms are a good size with no phone and old tv. The beds were uncomfortable and the shower alternated between scalding hot and freezing. The room had a number of large beetles and the... More

Shaw's was a clean, quaint, lovely place to stay while visiting PEI. The staff were all very helpful and kind (which, honestly, goes for just about everyone we met on Prince Edward Island). Our first room (on the third floor with two double beds) did not give us enough room, especially with our suitcases - but it was no problem... More

It was a beautiful location and close to lot of things. we had a group of 10 people and lets just say they offered us a choice between one of there big cabins or a small we choose the big one so we could be all together.. we paid for the room and while we are about to walk up... More

It is always a concern of ours at Shaw’s Hotel to provide a memorable guest experience. Regarding your concerns The Wi-Fi is rural internet and I informed the gentleman who registered that if you all tried to connect at the same time the system would crash. The system works ok for browsing until there is too much usage of Netflix,... More

we've been having dinner in this charming countryside restaurant for the French National Day and we really enjoyed as well the service and the elegant setting and of course amazing food: a pleasure for the eyes and a delight for the taste buds.....

Shaw's epitomizes everyone's image of what Prince Edward Island must be like: trees and lawns waving gently in the Atlantic breeze, afternoons under an almost tropical sun on hot, sandy beaches, sumptuous seafood suppers and cool evenings comforted by locally-knit sweaters. Canada's oldest family-owned hotel offers this and much more. The idyllic setting -- a relaxing ten-minute tree-lined walk from... More

Overall, we enjoyed a three night off-season visit to Shaw’s, an historic inn/hotel beside beautiful (and windswept) Brackley Beach. The properrty has been in business since the mid-19c under the management of successive generations of the eponymous family. The location is somewhat isolated, an advantage for those seeking tranquillity. Apart from walking the beach, there’s not much to do in... More

We've got two more nights and I'm already getting the family asking about next year. We wanted a family get away, where we could hang on the beach, or just relax. As soon as we arrived, it felt right. The location has privacy, space, beauty and access to wonderful beaches. Well kept and reasonable prices for accommodations. Breakfast has been... More

There is not a better place from which to experience PEI than centrally located Shaw's Hotel and cottages. Immaculate and well kept, Shaw's is a perfect blend of comfort, relaxation, and outdoor activities. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, and the delicious breakfasts and dinners are served by the friendliest staff. One day we kayaked in the bay adjoining the... More

I am definitely more of a hotel guy than a cottage guy, so I'll just stick to some tips I learned after staying at Shaw's for 2 nights. 1. Bring your own bug spray. The front desk has multiple bottles they loan out, but if you have your own to carry with you, you have a better chance of survival.... More

Buggy Sorry to hear your disappointment with the mosquitos you encountered. The heavy rains over the last week created the opportunity for a new batch. The walk to the beach is through the National Park and is beyond our control but we do have mechanisms around our property controlling the mosquitos and they haven't caused any issues until the last...
