Went there second last weekend of August. Classic Canadian cottage location, friendly and accommodating staff. Clean and authentic feel. Even though there is no beach there are boat rentals and technically you can swim off the dock. Kitchen appliances, beds and bathrooms are good for an authentic cottage experience. Beware of almost no cell reception in the area and difficulties... More

Great quiet getaway for a family or group of friends. Our group stayed here in August of 2014 and really enjoyed it. It was very easy to book, last minute and well worth the value. Pros: Easy to book. Very friendly helpful staff, that gave us directions on how to get to the city(Port Loring). They also let us check... More

It is not hard for me to think of reasons to return to Tornado’s Motel and Cottages, and as much as I am an old pro for doing down time in cottage country: 1. The welcoming collection of pine trees that is a few stories tall at the entrance, 2. The driveway that takes us a few minutes to get... More

Stayed in the Settlers Lodge. Wonderful accomodation with comfortable bed, large room, and 4 piece bath. There is a lounge area with nice fireplace and kitchen and dining room. Want to return with lots of friends and book all the rooms.

Recently stayed at Tornado's for the first time while on a snowmobile trip through the area. Although we arrived much later than originally planned we we received a warm welcome. We chose a meal plan that included dinner that night and breakfast the next morning before we left. Both were good we certainly didn't leave hungry. We were able to... More

I've been traveling to Smoky Lake via Tornado's Resorts for over twenty years. Martin and his family do all they can to make sure their guests are happy and are enjoying their time, and the staff is a joy to be around. Smoky Lake and the surrounding areas offer fantastic fishing, as well as stunning beauty. The accommodations on Smoky... More

We spent a week here fishing and visiting with friends. The property is very nice and well kept. Areas to sit and read, places to fish from, and even a small beach. The kids had a blast. The fishing was not quite legendary BUT I will claim operator error, not the fault of the lodge. The cottages were okay, nothing... More
