Very well maintained older property with immaculately clean room - period furnishings, tall ceilings, plenty of space, plus I always like a room with a full bookcase. Charming hosts and restaurant/bar filled with "Casablanca" ambiance. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Food was fine, but not exceptional - also felt the "indoor patio" lacked the charm of the rest of the... More

We stayed at the Carlyle Inn in Port Hope in April 2014 as a weekend getaway on the way to visiting family in Cobourg (also a great place to visit). I shared room #7 with my husband and daughter, while my Mother-in-Law and her boyfriend stayed in a room on the same floor. The inn was old and quaint, but... More

We stayed on the 30th of June on our way back to Toronto. The young lady that received us was out of this world hospitable and accommodating, which really helped with winding down our 3 month old (it was close to 9pm). The inn is meticulously kept and the Victorian decor doesn't interfere with the modern comforts expected at the... More

Very comfortable, clean and charming. Lots of space and had everything that I needed to make my stay comfortable. Great down town location and within walking distance to great shops, Saturday Market, Theatre and more. The only thing missing is an elevator for those who can not do stairs but there are rooms on the main floor.

we stayed here for one night on May 31, we booked our room the day before and stayed on the 3rd floor. Our room was clean and bright, super comfy bed. There is no elevator but the staff helped us caring up our belongings. Enjoyed the historical feel to building, we ate supper there in the greenhouse themed dining room.... More

Dawn & jim, Toronto. The Carlyle Inn is in a beautiful historic building near Port Hope's main street. We stayed on the third floor in a spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated room. We also ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at the inn and enjoyed all three meals thoroughly. The restaurant is comprised of three different areas: a casual sunroom that... More

Booked into the Carlyle for the weekend for our anniversary. From first contact on the phone I knew this would be a great stay. Dave and his staff were wonderful hosts. Room was fabulous. Very clean and the whole building meticulously maintained. Quaint little bar formal dining room and the vault is great for a romantic dinner for two as... More

My son attends boarding school in Port Hope so my wife and I typically end up staying the night at least 4 or 5 times a year. We used to stay at the Hill & Dale (which was operated by the same couple that now run the Carlyle but when they closed the Hill & Dale we started staying at... More

Back in 1997 my wife and I happened upon the Carlyle Inn while driving from Detroit to Montreal. What a delightful and quaint little place. Our traditionally decorated room was quite large as was the bathroom. On our way out we picked up a ceramic coffee mug to have as a memento and I have used the mug regularly for... More
