we stayed at the waddell recently. thi is a beautifully restored historic hotel, conveniently located in downtown port hope. you can enjoy the river view, river walk, parks and many amenities nearby. beautiful town! our room was comfortable and clean, good view of the river. however small details were missing that, i believe, kept this hotel from being 4 or... You don't find too many inns of this splendour anymore. I literally stood in thier main dining room for a few minutes and tried to imagine all that the walls of this historic inn have witnessed over the decades, and indeed centuries. The craftsmanship of "bones" of the inn are stunning. We dined on the patio for lunch during our... More

Great little hotel in Port Hope. We stayed there for our second time. Great location overlooking the river. The main street is a mere 50 meters away. Very nicely done spacious rooms in a Georgian style. Has a restaurant and bar in the hotel. Clean , well maintained accommodation, friendly staff. Great place to base yourself out off when exploring... More

We had the pleasure of staying in one of the best rooms in the house for two nights in April 2014. We were in Port Hope to watch the annual "Float your fanny down the Ganny" event, an annual anything-goes-as-long-as-it-floats boat race down the frigid melt-waters of the Ganaraska River. The Waddel has been very nicely restored, our room was... More

We have been to this hotel many times. Very central location, walk everywhere. We have never been to this hotel in the winter time, and I don't think we will go there again in the winter. Our room was freezing. We had the temperature at almost 85 degrees and were still cold. I know that it was extremely cold outside,... More

Cameron and Bob are two really nice guys who are a credit to the hotel profession. Bob's the mayor of Port Hope. A community minded man, who is now doing the work of two people. Owning a hotel and running a town is a huge undertaking. Thank God he's got Cameron! Cameron is the first person you meet and the... More

The location was perfect within walking distance of the lovely and historic downtown. Its location on the river was perfect for taking an evening stroll. We arrived several hours before check-in and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating and got us into our room by the time we finished having a quick lunch on their patio. In particular Kathryn... More

My wife and I live a 40 minute drive west of Port Hope and take the leisurely, interesting drive along the lakefront through Bond Head a couple of times a year (exit at Mill Street from Hwy 401). This was our first time eating at the Waddell and it certainly won't be our last. My wife had Quiche and I... More

We enjoyed our stay at The Waddell Hotel in Port Hope. Our room was on the top floor of the historic hotel with a view of the Ganaraska River. It was spacious and best of all I could open the window riverside and fall asleep to the sound of rushing water. We decided to have dinner in the hotel's Trattoria... More
