We had the pleasure of staying in one of the best rooms in the house for two nights in April 2014. We were in Port Hope to watch the annual "Float your fanny down the Ganny" event, an annual anything-goes-as-long-as-it-floats boat race down the frigid melt-waters of the Ganaraska River. The Waddel has been very nicely restored, our room was... More

We have been to this hotel many times. Very central location, walk everywhere. We have never been to this hotel in the winter time, and I don't think we will go there again in the winter. Our room was freezing. We had the temperature at almost 85 degrees and were still cold. I know that it was extremely cold outside,... More

Cameron and Bob are two really nice guys who are a credit to the hotel profession. Bob's the mayor of Port Hope. A community minded man, who is now doing the work of two people. Owning a hotel and running a town is a huge undertaking. Thank God he's got Cameron! Cameron is the first person you meet and the... More

The location was perfect within walking distance of the lovely and historic downtown. Its location on the river was perfect for taking an evening stroll. We arrived several hours before check-in and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating and got us into our room by the time we finished having a quick lunch on their patio. In particular Kathryn... More

My wife and I live a 40 minute drive west of Port Hope and take the leisurely, interesting drive along the lakefront through Bond Head a couple of times a year (exit at Mill Street from Hwy 401). This was our first time eating at the Waddell and it certainly won't be our last. My wife had Quiche and I... More

We enjoyed our stay at The Waddell Hotel in Port Hope. Our room was on the top floor of the historic hotel with a view of the Ganaraska River. It was spacious and best of all I could open the window riverside and fall asleep to the sound of rushing water. We decided to have dinner in the hotel's Trattoria... More

What a great spot in downtown Port Hope. I stayed two nights at this hotel and was impressed in every facet. Rooms were large, very comfortable and very quiet. I stayed on the 3rd floor and had a queen room overlooking the river - great view and very good nights sleep (even though it only lasted five hours). The morning... More

Very nice place at top dollar rates. The relatively high price makes me judge this a bit harder but for the most part, it's a good choice. Great location, nicely restored building, welcoming atmosphere, tastefully done. You get a front door key since there are no services later at night - just like a B&B. The bed was comfortable, wifi... More

Had an enjoyable stay at The Waddell while visiting Port Hope. The room was very large with high ceilings and lots of windows. Although right on the corner, it was surprisingly quiet at night. Enjoyed a nice drink in the bar downstairs and then headed to the sister restaurant "Black Beans" for a great dinner. The continental breakfast was totally... More
