Although an older motel with traditionally smallish rooms, both the rooms and the grounds are very clean & well kept. Management is friendly and attentive. An economical choice for the area. Frig/stove burners / dishes/sink make for housekeeping unit. Not meant for long term stays though.

First time in the area. Decided to stay at the Maplewood with two other adults. The Owners are super friendly, and super nice! The bathroom could do with some updating, small in size, but overall it was a great place to crash for the weekend. We stayed in a " Family Suite " which was perfect.. Two seperate bedrooms, Eat... This is an average motel which has new owners who are excellent. The room was a little musty as though not used for a while, but was very clean. The units could do with a little bit of love and care. Beds were fine. Location is good on the main strip of Port Elgin, close to most things including the... More

Just to refresh my 2008 review, the place hasn't changed at all. Stayed there over July 1 weekend. Fridge and TV worked fine, Plenty of hot water. Bit of traffic noise from the main road in the front room, but back bedroom very quiet as it faces into their backyard. Still the best motel/hotel deal in the area.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2008

My wife, 7 year old and I stayed there on July 1, 2008. When we're in the area for a night or two, we typically stay here over the past few years, and have consistently had good experiences. Most units have a fully functional kitchenette, many have separate bedrooms. The decor and furniture is a bit on the austere side... More
