We have stayed all over Cape Breton Island. This is by far my most favourite place. The only disappointment I have is that I didn't know about this place only for the sign on the side of the road. I had searched the internet for 3 weeks for accommodations in Cape Breton, and not once did I see this listed.... More

We have stayed at the Lighthouse Cottages for a week during the last few years. We love the serenity, and the view from the front stoop is amazing. The cottages are clean and equipped with everything necessary for a stay at a cottage, and if by chance anything is missing, the owners are very happy to correct the situation. My... More

My wife and I have stayed at the "lighthouse cottages" in Port Hood, Cape Breton on several separate occasions. We wished we could have spent more time there. The grounds were very well maintained and staff very kind. The cottages were well looked after with 2 bedrooms, bathroom and a good sized kitchen-living area. All the cottages faced the sea,... More

I travelled to Port Hood in Sept of this year for my good friends wedding. I travelled with my boyfriend, my cousin her husband and their 3 year old and 3 week old. Needless to say we were very dissatisfied with this accommodation. Cottages: very small and basic. It was more like a hotel than a cottage. We fit the... More

Our most recent visit to the Cape Breton was for Celtic Colours, and the Lighthouse Cottages are the ideal central location for much of the entertainment in the area. We look forward to staying at the Lighthouse as you can depend on them on being clean, well equipped with all the essentials, service is first class, beautiful waterfront location. We stayed in one of the Lighthouse Cottages in early October. Our cottage was extremely clean and the view of the bay and sunset was great. The rooms were so clean they looked freshly painted. The woman at the front desk--the owner I believe--was pleasant and very helpful. As it was near the end of the season and we were... More

We stayed here for a few days in September and we had a great experience. The cottages were very clean, beds were comfortable and we had lots of space. Our cottage had two bedrooms, full kitchen with a good size living room and bathroom. You can't beat the location. The cottages are a 5 minute drive from a grocery store.... More

The view is spectacular. We would of been ok except for the fact that there was no hot water for a bath or shower and the water was brown. There was no attendant available to help with this issue. We were not comfortable there, but only had to stay for one night.

Thank you for your comment. This is extremely unfortunate and we have never had this problem before. There is a phone number to contact if an attendant is not available after hours. Please accept our apologies and we hope you'll consider visiting us again. More

We recently went for a wedding- and we were warned that the owner had some weird "rules" for absolutely everything. We dealt with her rules- but one that really bothered us was you can be a family of 8...but you cannot bet 2 couples with 2 babies for 1 cottage- thats different. These are 2 bedroom 2 double beds +... More

We were only able to get a cottage for one night since they are always booked in advance and usually full. So happy we did. We were in # 8 and it was a 2 bedroom cottage with a full kitchen...new and full sized fridge, stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, electric kettle, teapot and dishes, cutlery and pots and pans.... Thanks for your comments. This summer (2013) we added two more antennas to provide a stronger signal. All guests are receiving proper wifi signal now and it's free of charge. More
